Doctor's appointments. They are never, ever, ever on time. Why don't they just make them a half-hour later?

You can thank all the people before you who get 15 minutes but come in with a list of 19 things they have saved up from not visiting for the last 6+ months. I am one of those people, but I have the good grace to book a double appointment, though my practice doesn't take doubles. On the whole, most Doctors do NOT want to keep you waiting, but medical issues can be complicated and time-consuming and thanks to the constant penny pinching by the Government past and esp present, things will only get worse as GP's are pressured to do 10-minute appointments. 1 Complex case in a day can screw everything up, and even not complex cases can be MADE complex by having someone with English as a second language without a translator, or specific types of illness which require specialist care.

I used to have a GP, nice guy, but who was always running late, so I started making my appointments to be the first of his day. Even then he would turn up 15-20 minutes late. He would never say anything like ‘sorry I’m late’ and it used to absolutely infuriate me. FFS.

One time this happened and again I was very pissed off. When he took my blood pressure at the beginning, he said ‘Oh, it’s a little high’. I said ‘Well what do you expect - I’m extremely agitated’.

So he asked why, I said “Is there any particular reason that you’re late today?” [No.] “You kept me waiting 20 minutes without apology. You’re always late and this is your first appointment of the day. Do you think your time is more important than mine? I’m a professional person too and time is money to me. I find your repeated lateness high-handed and arrogant”.

He was very taken aback and apologetic and said timekeeping was one of his weaknesses. I only had one or two further appointments with him before we moved house to another area and I changed doctors.

Went to see my current GP this afternoon - or I should say ‘went to my current medical centre’. Appointment was for 1:45 pm. The doc called me in at 1:48 pm. That’s what I call a Good Doctor.

.... apart from the fact that he literally looked like he was 18 years old. Extremely pleasant young man - seemed to know his onions. One small complaint I have about this Medical Centre is that pretty much every time I go there, I see someone new or different. Appear to have a high staff turnover so there’s little continuity at the personal level.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

There is a HUGE shortage of Doctors right now. Good money to be made locuming to the highest bidder. It's going to get much worse before it gets better as there is a huge number of doctors coming up on retirement age now and no-one suitably qualified to replace them, esp rurally where there is very little interest for millennial doctors to go. Not sure if you saw the Tokoroa Doctor who wanted someone for his practice, was offering CRAZY money. You could have almost bought Tokoroa for it.

I don't fancy him.....and I don't think my current wife would feel too great about it either.

People often mistake me for an adult due to my age.

That's really bad and some decisions should have been taken earlier (or corrected later on). My wife is the doctor.

WiFi. We were urgently called away to New Plymouth for the weekend due to a sick family member. I remembered to grab the laptop from in the lounge that I always use for email and Geekzone, etc.

Get to the hotel and could not for the life of me find a damned WiFi network to connect to. Someone there told me that Windows Vista won't connect to WiFi any longer. I didn't know that, so no interwebz for the weekend.

A keyboard with the O and the A side by side, so you could excuse yourself for that as a typo?

Tokoroa is a great place - if you're a lumberjack.

I had a request come in today; "can you please add and option for [blah] to the [blah] menu in the [blah] app?". I looked around and could not for the life of me find this menu. I went back to the customer and asked for a screenshot. It's a completely different app.
