Good grief, do you ever stop? He made no mention of underpaid, illegal, or aliens!?

Tyre dealers who tell you the tyres on your car tyres wouldn't get a warrant and should be replaced immediately, second opinion from another professional with measuring device shows they aren't anywhere NEAR as bad as that and probably have 3-6 months driving left on them.

My mechanic, with whom I have a longstanding relationship and whose judgement I trust completely, explained to me that it is a safety issue. Tyres that are worn but still legal don't grip as well or stop as well or drive around corners as well or handle as well in the rain. They may not be illegal, but tyres with only 3-6 months driving left on them are definitely not as good as newer ones would be. Usually you only discover this during an emergency.

Presumably the other crowd I took it to would have taken this into account?  These aren't marginal differences. "wouldn't pass a warrant" when it actual fact it easily would have, indicates (to me, and these other people who could have potentially had a sale by agreeing with crowd 1) they were trying to get a sale rather than worried about my safety.

Trolls who imply we locked threads in the Politics subforum when in fact all topics lock automatically after a couple of weeks.

Despite receiving an email that that the claim has been ACCEPTED and that you will receive another email shortly! (NO timeframe given, Weeks later = NO email!)

I'm looking at you Nespresso!

Way to go - NOT!

My annoyance would be the insistence that measuring the tread is the only measure for how bad a tyre is, and that its just fine to be driving around on 8 year old dried out pieces of crap just because there is a lot of tread on them.

The can of sardines that managed to find its way into an almost inaccessible part of the bilge of our boat xx years ago, just rusted through and released spectacularly malodorous contents.  Didn't set off the gas alarm.

Dumb design. Where do I start? We have an expensive Bosch gas stovetop. Cleaning food spills and, especially, grease out of all the bits and bobs of that unnecessarily intricate thing is like extracting teeth. Even removing encrusted remains from the stainless steel without scratching it is hopeless. Whoever created it obviously didn’t have to clean the damned thing. It looks nice and shiny in the shop. I guess that’s all they care about. So much for German design.

With the wife away for 3 months. 14yo and I didn't keep it clean on a regular basis, so there was a bit of 14yo's cooking to clean up.

I made a thin paste of bicarb and water, bicarb is alkaline, and has disinfectant properties. removed the 3 grills, painted the goop on, left for an hour, wiped off with paper towels. Same with rangehood, easy. if you dont get it all off it leaves some chalklike substance. Spray with white vinegar, thats also a cleaner, it reacts to the bicarb, wipe off after it stops minor bubbling. I did the same on the bottom of alu windows, where condensation has been, now some mould, as that are behind closed blinds 24/7. Easy.

Rookie error. Should have sent the 14 YO with the wife..! cool

There is. Get a cleaner...

You mean an underpaid illegal alien? I would but they have all gone to Mexico.

Looks like you'll have to bite the bullet and pay the going rate then.

Helpful hint, maybe everyone knows this already, but Tyre tread depth should be measured from the indicators, not the channel.
