Ludicrous language, most especially common in reports from the Police and/or courts.

 

This one caught my eye today:

 

"The vehicle became stationary and police spoke to her. "

 

The vehicle "became stationary"? You mean, it stopped?

 

 

A vehicle stopping is legally defined as something, so perhaps it did not stop?

That is only one of the holidays around this time. You forgot the happy new year part which IMO is the much more important of the 2.
