Possibly a bit outside the scope of this thread, but I'm annoyed that I was kicked from a Facebook group that I was part of for over 4 years (and contributed a LOT to - more than some of the other members who just sat there reading the posts and contributing next to nothing) with no reason or warning given, and to top it off I can't even follow up with the Administrator who runs the group or ask him what I did, because he blocked me.

The "Gizmodo" website, which for some reason never works the first time. I'd be interested in seeing whether anyone else has the same problem: Try visiting https://earther.gizmodo.com/it-snowed-in-the-arizona-desert-and-the-photos-look-ot-1831466777 and see whether it takes you to the home page or the article.

Straight to the article for me.

I had a redirect and something stuck on the end of the URL.

gizmodo do this annoying thing where they redirect to an AU version of the site which has needless things on articles changed, like $ amounts into AUD with nothing to tell you that so articles about new phones are all wrong, and they spell jail as gaol for some stupid reason on the AU site. It seems that if the article isnt butchered on the AU site they redirect you back to the .com version and that is what fails mostly for me.

I actively avoid gizmodo now.

"Item is in stock. Order before 3:30 PM and it will be dispatched today*."

I completed my order at 3:24 yesterday and it hasn't been dispatched yet. This is a double-whammy: First of all, what's the point of listing a cutoff time if they don't stick to it (I suspect that this is a case of "3:24 is close enough to 3:30")? Secondly, there's an asterisk in the sentence but it doesn't have a corresponding note.

Name and shame.

Maybe the asterisk was going to say “3:30 PM or thereabouts”.

I'll give it a day before naming and shaming, just in case they shipped it without bothering to tell me... not ideal, but better than not doing it at all.

Edit: Shipped today (Tuesday) at 12:30 PM, so Torpedo 7 can now be named and shamed. Although to be completely fair, I checked the site again and it actually says "estimated", which I'd missed earlier, so interpret as you wish.

"Estimated time: Overnight delivery* when ordered before 3:30pm Monday - Thursday. Next business day dispatch for orders received after 3:30pm and on weekends."

Try us.gizmodo.com  When I'm browsing without my geounblocker it seems to detect I'm in NZ and redirects to the AU version, but the above URL usually works.  If it doesn't, try the same URL in incognito mode and see if that works.

It seems that the particular link I posted above has been fixed now; it goes straight to the article. But in any case, it shouldn't be necessary to manually tweak URLs; a URL by definition is supposed to locate a resource (document) so if it doesn't do so then that's a problem with the site.

Agreed, but I've just accepted that they have some kind of region coding built into their site, the way some tech companies redirect to the US, EU or Asia-Pacific versions of their site to provide region-specific support for their products.  Personally, I agree that there is no good reason for an Australian version of a mostly US-centric tech blog, but the simplest solution is to simply use the us.gizmodo.com URL, the way some people override the region settings to access region-specific websites for tech support.

Perhaps the * means Chatham Islands TZ? ;)

Apple's own website doesn't work correctly in Safari.

Specifically, if I middle-click any of the links on https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3662846 then they don't open in new tabs.

I seem to be having an "interesting" run of websites this week: I've just found another oddity, namely a page that loads on the phone but 404s on the desktop. If I set my desktop's user agent to a phone browser then it loads correctly.
