The genius who's decided our one and only local dedicated post office isn't going to be a post office any more, its going to be a Kiwibank only. Hey, the towns population is only 20000, why would we possibly need a post office.

(apparently all that stuff is moving into Paper Plus).

it's the way it's going it seems , we havent got a dedicated Post office in Rotorua. All of them are in other shops.

Cost cutting..

Oh well, post volumes constantly declining, adjusting to market conditions, etc, etc. Still seems bit weird to me, especially if I read the notice right and they really are keeping the shop open just for Kiwibank customers...all that space, why not put a post office in there, hey, thats a thought...

People who expect post service to be continued when a majority of people in an area would only be going in to get parcels that courierpost dropped a card for and ran rather than try to deliver it.

Post is dead. Accept that and move on.

I have delayed posting this for some time now, sensitive topic for some.  More of a minor annoyance, and perhaps a chance to explain.

The media referring to Masjid Al Noor Mosque. Masjid is a mosque, transliteration of the same word, meaning a place of prayer.

It is poor grammar, redundant to add the word mosque onto the title.

I know this as my wife and step children are Muslim.  The day of the attack I took our youngest son to Jumu'ah at local community centre, he had a teachers only day and I was recovering from being knocked off my ebike riding to work.

When a descriptive term contains words in a foreign language ('foreign' meaning other than the language used around the descriptive term), it is common practice to include words that serve to translate the foreign words. Since most English speakers may not know what the word 'masjid' means, it is useful to add a translation to it, hence 'mosque'. The strictly correct way to do it might be to say something like 'masjid, which means mosque', but this kind of thing can become awkward. I see nothing at all wrong or redundant about just using both words together. It may or may not grate on someone who speaks both languages, but it adds useful meaning for those who don't. It is fine to point this out if you feel a need to, but it seems more like quibbling to me.

In case anyone wanted yet another case of "deployed to production without any testing", I just ran into an ad for the McDonaldΓÇös app.

Having 6/7 of your AliExpress order silently cancelled. Customer support says I breached the rules but can't tell me which ones.

It would appear using their anniversary promotion code along with coupons the system offers or automatically applies, including some they explicitly state can be used with other discounts, might be a bit too much of a discount for them to honour. Processing 1/7 of the order just seems bizarre.

After eight years as my go-to source for online goods, I think it's time to look elsewhere. Over recent months disputes have become a hassle, and it seems more sellers are exploiting the process, deferring to AliExpress to resolve even when they agree to a refund. AliExpress will not even consider correspondence with the seller, so I guess that's why.

Having to shop around is the bit that annoys me... where else can I go to get the best deals and range?

Ours is a small counter in the village shop. Actually a model not uncommon in the UK (at least, it used to be common) and seems to work well for the locals.

I remain curious why they sell so many stamps, though, when their computer system could easily produce postage paid labels to stick on mail instead.

Airline booking systems that offer helpful messages such as "we can't find any flights for the dates specified" but do nothing to tell you on what nearby dates you could get flights on.

Grrrr.

The main requirement is obviously to rhyme, rather than the imparting of actual information...
