Apparently self-obsessed or self-important people who work for councils or a port or power company and drive a ute with a temporary yellow flashing light clipped to the roof - who drive around the streets with the light flashing for no real reason or when they’re just going down to the bakery to buy a pie for lunch.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Shops that decide for no apparent reason, at least to us who get to wander round looking for stuff thats moved 4 isles away. Yes I'm looking at you Countdown.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Almost. Went to petrol station last night but paid with phone. Wallet not in my jacket or jeans. Called BP nd no wallet handed.

Could have fallen from pocket and collected by someone. Time to cancel a couple of cards.

Possibly... Just posting an update to the situation here. Also I don't post in that thread. I never smile, despite of what my avatar here shows.

Wives aren't usually encumbered by the y chromosome induced cerebral inhibition of visual surveillance and recovery, aka "the man look".

Not necessarily... it depends what she found in the wallet. 🤨

Air-conditioner remotes. Doesn't seem to matter the brand they're always aweful.

Its gotten to the stage where the next aircon I purchase will probably be chosen solely on whichever has the best remote.

Trying to get prices for tyres on-line.  All the mainstream sellers want you to call them or fill out a bl**dy form and they'll email you a quote.

Just show me the prices and if it looks appealing I'll call you and we can negotiate from there.

Thanks for explaining "plethora".

It means a lot.

Heatpumps seem to be about the only appliance where the remote saves the operating state of the appliance.

And that is before you have to deal with poorly chosen control algorithms. Such as not being able to tell the unit to stay on a fixed louver setting. My heatpumps always go to horizontal louver setting when they sense that the room is heated. By the time the ceiling gets cold enough that the unit switches back on. The rest of the room is much colder. So it will often ramp up to max output to get the room back up to temp.

Fly Buys.

We need a new slow cooker as previous one now EOL.

I thought that might be a good use of the Fly Buys points that I have accumulated. So, browsed their site looking at various models. Literally all of them that were more expensive than the amount of points I have required more in cash to 'top up' the purchase than the same item could be purchased for from a shop!

One glaring example was a fancy Kitchen Aid device that was much more than just a slow cooker: with 750 Fly Buys points, it required another $750 to buy it.

Order it from Kitchen Aid NZ and you can buy it for $650...!

This seems somehow wrong - it is tantamount to the Fly Buys points actually being worth zero.
