$430 + GST for the new Oasis Kindle! Won't be upgrading!

Screen is better, it's waterproof, lighting is better etc but yes it's getting overly expensive.

The guy next to me at work constantly cracking his knuckles...actually...anyone cracking their knuckles within my earshot.

Still have had no update from Enable after the no-show!

ISP is not getting anything back from them either!

Geez...it's been over 5 years of this cr*p for customers - obviously it will continue!

Self-checkouts holding me up.

They're forever telling me I've put down an unexpected item even though it already gave me the right beep when I scanned the item, and then they seem to take an age between when I've told it I'm ready to pay and to enable the coin-slot and the note-sucker.  Even worse when I'm buying alcohol and I have to wait for the shop-assistant to come and push more buttons.

(Or maybe I need to change shops, I do recall a thread on here that said some of these robots are faster than others.)

Seems a bit rough to get angry at people when they might be encountering self check-outs for the very first time. Everyone has a first time using them when they're not exactly sure how they work so they slow down and read everything.

Personally I applaud anyone willing to give something new a go!

The (presumably) young but (certainly) incompetent staff who set up the self checkout systems, with frequent flaws such as;

Incorrect item weight entered into system, thus freezing the checkout terminal.

Inconsistent product naming - red capsicums but green peppers, banana shallots neither appearing as shallots nor bananas  (I never found the real item in the lookup - neither could the self checkout supervisor, who'd always tell me to just have them for free, or put them through as onions at 1/2 sticker price, bless her - this scam lasted for a year.)

Items like mangoes with bar codes on the stickers, the bar codes are read by the scanner and generate an "item code not found" error, freezing the checkout terminal.

Young people paying with cash. It's always young people. Adults use cards, paywave etc.

Young people (under 25s) clogging up the system when they buy booze. They know they'll need ID, but seem to fumble around forever trying to find it.

I bought some nuts from the bulk bins at Countdown the other day. As instructed on the bins I wrote the product code on the bag. Got to the checkout and there's no "enter code" button.

At least the local Countdown now has a button to bypass the "unexpected item" alert when the weights don't quite match.

Lock him up!

I am well into my seventies and I always pay cash. Always have. It is a principle of mine not to leave unnecessary paper trails. I will use a card on rare occasions when I miscalculate and don't have enough cash on me, but I would never even contemplate pay bloody wave. I have been fighting with my bank for nearly a year to get it disabled.

People don't always fit in boxes. The great thing about human nature is the capacity to be unpredictable.

Is that the prompt / dialog box that comes up with an "unexpected weight" message, but the yes/no question "are you using your own bag?".

Pressing "yes" unfreezes  the terminal - but I can understand why some people stare blankly at the screen, then call for help.

Clear as mud.

Using self service with the new "re-usable bags" is an freaking nightmare. I don't do it any more. The spaces are crowded, stacking items and having them move around always triggers the need for help. If they want to make it hard work, then they can pay someone to man a checkout counter.

That capacity may be exaggerated. You just need enough data points.

Ahh, yes, that's it. I knew it said something strange but I couldn't remember what. But I was using my own bag so I pressed it :)
