Then there is JBHFI another maze of dispair.

Martinborough is full of shops that sell things nobody ever really needs. It's irritating! Few of them last long; I have heard on the grapevine that the usual reason that they fail is unrealistic rent expectations from landlords.

Also too many noisy motorbikes from Wellington.

I think you'll find that if wasn't for them, there would be significantly less cafes etc than now.

Trying to enjoy breakfast at a nice local cafe when little Johnny at a nearby table whips out Mum’s phone to watch cartoons at full volume. Twice the cafe staff asked the parents to turn it down, twice the request was ignored.

Give the kid some earphones FFS!

Or a spanking and a lesson in manners.

Don't get me wrong - it's absolutely no fault to be rich. It just let me thinking about what has gone so fundamentally wrong in this world.

You may wish to have a look at how wealthy Julius Ceasar was in relation to the bottom half (he was worth about $4.5 trillion in today's money...). Or Pharoah Ramses. Or the Sultan of Jodhpur. Or JJ Astor. Etc.

It is not really new.

Compared to history, the way in which they have become wealthy is new.

And if the wealth was shared out equally, would you personally expect to have more or less?

Less. I have far more than I need.

In the last election I voted for a government which campaigned on cancelling proposed tax cuts, which would have benefited me personally to the tune of $2000 p.a. I'm happy they took it and used it to pay nurses etc. better.

Edit: I'm not advocating for an equal sharing of wealth - but rather a less unequal sharing.

Edit2: I don't care if someone has 5x or 10x, or maybe even 100x the average wealth. But when someone has more money than they could spend in a thousand lifetimes of luxury, that's a problem. Those with more, should contribute more. If that doesn't appeal to their morals, it should appeal to their desire for security.

A local automotive accessories supplier who want to charge me $4.99 to pick up an order from their retail outlet.

Shopping online provides me two shipping options

  1. $14.99 delivered to my door or
  2. $4.99 to collect from their store

So, if I rock up off the street I pay $270, but if I order it through their website and then elect to collect it in store I pay $275.

It will be. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves. It's been that way since one caveman had more useful sticks than his neighbour.
