People who watch video clips with audio on their phone or tablet in public without headphones.

The three hardest things to say: 1. I was wrong, 2. I need help, 3. Worcestershire sauce.

Or - People who have telephone conversations on there phones with the loudspeaker on cause they're too tired to lift the phone all the way up to their ear.

(might have mentioned this before, but you can't mention it enough really).

Making an impulse buy of The Last Ship bluray boxset, The price from Amazon US is horrendous, and its from Rarewaves. The price from Amazon UK is good but they won't send anything now (and its from Rarewaves). I know, try Rarewaves direct, they have a US store, reasonable price, but hey maybe they have  a UK store. No they don't but they do have one on eBay UK. Search for the boxset on eBay UK and the cheapest one available is same price as Rarewaves but the postage is horrendous. Nothing shows up for r-w in the search. Finally I search for 'Rarewaves The Last Ship BR boxset' and then it does appear, finally, cheap price and cheap postage, so I order it (and they add GST).

Expect a post at a yet to be determined date about 'hows postage from the UK in these covid times'...)

Hopefully I shall do the same, though preferably not in two months time...

Could be rather prescient, given the current global pandemic....

My personal favourite is seeing people do that while driving.

Internet help forums.....my laptop wifi keeps connecting to the unifi wifi ap at 2.4ghz instead of 5ghz, ...googling for help...

Intel forums....

"the disposition of the bands and the actual network management is done by the router or access point"

Unifi forums...

"Just note, the client /laptop is the one that generally decides where it goes. "

Totally opposing advice.

people whining about "other" internet forums when they're posting their complaint on a local tech/geek forum that's got a LAN (ethernet/Wifi/routers/Bluetooth) forum full of useful advice and helpful forum members - if only you'd ask.
(sorry - this is a bit of a wind-up - but last similar-ish issue I had, replies to my post did help solve the problem I had, which turned out to be about 99% my fault for not RTFM / sales pitch properly)

The number of idiots on facebook who muck you around after they've said they're interested in things you're selling. Very annoying.

I, for one, am forever grateful for the excellent advice I have received here over the years. Geekzone is an unending font of technical wisdom. I don't know what I would have done without it.

Once in 100/500/1,000,000/whatever year event. This journalistic trope really annoys me. It is brainless, pointless, dumb, irritating, wrong. The event - whatever it is - does not come around every 500 or whatever years. If it did, it wouldn't be happening right now at this very moment. These things are not once in a lifetime happenings. They are happening when they happen. They might happen again tomorrow. They might not.

This expression is used most with weather events. That is also very stupid. If we just had a once in a hundred years flood, why did we also have one 10 years ago? We are talking about odds here, and the odds are that everyone will get hammered by an unexpected weather event at some point in their life, usually more than once. You don't need to be 500 years old for that to happen.

A 1 in ‘n’ weather event is expected, not unexpected. The odds of it happening *this* year are 1 in ‘n’. It’s pretty straightforward.

This explains it well.

I get that part. My complaint is about the way the  media brainlessly bandy the term about. I agree with the hydrologists at the beginning of your example. The 'once in 100 years' reference just confuses most people. Keep the technical jargon for the experts and use plain language for everyone else.
