That's because when it's stored the right way up, the tasty flavouring sinks to the bottom, so you get less flavour with the crackers at the top. By opening the bottom, the coating redistributes throughout the crackers, leading to a more enjoyable culinary experience.

The correct way to get the flavour powder properly distributed through the crackers is to to pound the inner plastic bag thoroughly with a rolling pin - then give the bag a good shake prior to opening.

Sometimes with potato chips workers in the distribution chain - like supermarket shelf-stockers - do this for you manually before you buy - which is very thoughtful of them.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Reminds me of a joke. It was an Irish joke and I have no idea if you're allowed to tell those or not these days.

"Allowed to" or "should"?

The "thought police" probably won't drag you away, but the funniest thing about so-called "Irish jokes" is that the same joke with any other culture or race being demeaned is told the world over, substituting "Irish(man)" with whoever the target is.  The teller of the joke thus tries to be "funny" whilst pushing the concept that they're from a superior culture, race, religion etc.  OTOH, as a kiwi, who lived in Australia for years, being subject to a bit of ribbing didn't bother me at first - and I'd fire a bit of the same back at them, then after being told the same joke dozens of times it got tiresome, and eventually a bit annoying. Fortunately it's relatively easy for most kiwis to adapt their accents / pronunciation so that nobody notices - you don't feel that you need to pretend to be amused.   Or you just end up hanging around socially with people of your own culture.  That's what real "cancel culture" is - you've got to cancel out your own culture to "fit in" to become "one of us".  Now imagine that even if you didn't or couldn't "blend in" with "real Australians", you'd probably have to put up with listening to the same lame jokes and slurs - from the day you started kindergarten all your life.  Is that "funny"?

There's a brand of corn chips - "Mission".  There were three flavours - plain, cheese, and chilli and lime.  The chilli and lime flavour was absolutely spectacular, hot, spicy, sour - and oodles of crumbly flavoursome goodness at the bottom of the pack.  The other two flavours don't even warrant a prize for participating.

"Were" because they sold out at my local supermarket - and they've been "sold out" for months.  This really really annoys me, even at breakfast time.

Taking my son's bike to the bike shop in the driving rain and wind...one of the bungee cords failed and bike started flopping about on the bike rack...thankfully didn't have far to go to the bike shop and one bungee was still securing the bike (mostly) but that was unpleasant and mildly annoying.

Isn't it interesting how the things that annoy you also sometimes make you smile?

Especially when something as simple as a 14mm spanner could have alleviated the need for the trip altogether...

That the Parliament live stream is no longer available as a TV channel. Are they trying to make it as inaccessible as they can?

Showing in Christchurch on Channel 31. Currently showing a Looking Back programme, as per listing.

Has something changed? It still seems to be on channel 31.

It's not on IPTV, which is how I watch television these days.  There is just a notification that the live stream has moved to ondemand.parliament.nz. This seems like a pretty retrograde step to me, especially for a vital government service that has difficulty attracting a large audience anyway.

When people send a meeting invite with no agenda. And, as I noticed with 5 minutes to go, also no location.

I have a policy.

  • No agenda
  • No clear call-outs on what inputs are required from who
  • No objectives/outputs

Immediate decline. It changes people's behaviour quite quickly.
