Handsomedan:

I get annoyed with people on the internet (I know! It's shocking and almost unheard of).

.

.

There's so few people that are actually constructive. And don't get me started on the NZ Subreddit. If you're not a home-owner-hating communist, stay away.

There’s a simple solution to your complaint - don’t read that crap in the internet. It’s not a problem I have ever had.

What else would I do with my life? Actually ride my mountain bike? MADNESS!!

Probably kids are less affected by Internet BS than the rest of us... they've been seeing this for their entire online lives.

You think so?  I think it's the same - but different.

Many seem to think they'll have a lucrative career as "influencers" selling Paltrow-scented goop.  Or make their own. I blame the internet.

Having repeated problems with Google Pay and random "declined" transactions when using NFC / app on my phone. 10 minute wait then long discussion with the bank concluding with "it's not our problem - must be Google". So, I then have a 45 minute chat with 3 different people at Google concluding with "it's definitely not our problem - must be your bank".

I'm guessing that something must be triggering a security alert and automatic declining the transaction when using the app, but using the same card linked to G Pay on the same eftpos terminal and paywave, the transaction has always gone through on the first attempt.

I guess I'll be talking to the bank again today.  Oh joy.

When restaurants make a Reuben with corned beef instead of pastrami.

Or eggs benedict on sourdough instead of an English muffin.

ANZ?

Yes.

I've got a second (Kiwibank) card registered with my G Pay A/C.  Google support folks seemed to think that next time I get a declined transaction with ANZ then switch default card on the app, see if that works.

I get the feeling that I'm not being told something by the bank - that the bank knows about.

Self-checkout operators at my local supermarket tell me that they're seeing issues.  There's an added problem with G Pay - the phone app gives a confirmation ping and displays a "tick" to let you know that communication with G Pay succeeded, but no alert if the transaction was declined (except for the normal silent notification).  Of course people should wait to see if the transaction goes through at the terminal, but some don't.  They assume "all good - it went ping and gave me the tick of approval", grab their groceries and head for the exit.  Yes - they shouldn't - but they do - so checkout operators having to chase people in car-parks quite an undesirable result of poor (IMO) design.

Apparently "Ping" is down. Trademe app tells me so when I press "buy now". It then takes me back to the auction, despite the seller listing bank transfer and cash as acceptable payment options - the app refuses to let the purchase go through.

Great.

No, it's their credit card payment system.

ANZ is having problems. Their help desk might not know it - or being quiet about it.

It's not your Google Pay. There's nothing you can do except use the actual card for now.

That was my suspicion.  I've been using ANZ Go-money NFC then migrated to G Pay since they first became available.  Never had an issue until now - when it's been happening randomly for the past two weeks...  Does make me feel that something is happening that they don't want to talk about.  I checked my account immediately when I got the first declined transaction, just in case something bad had happened.  No probs getting through to the banking app on my phone.

Never taken much notice of Poli, but googled it just now.  I saw floating fluorescent flashing visions of "nope" - in all caps surrounded by a sea of interrobangs.
How can that even exist?

OMG

Novak Djokovic got angry at the US Open and whacked a tennis ball away, but it hit a line umpire, in the throat, she went down on her knees. He apologised profusely, and he was defaulted, so thats all good.

Today, his fans are abusing that umpire online, as she was named, how shallow can people be????
