At the hospital I worked at, they rename IT to "Digital Services". And digital means something quite different in a hospital. Google DRE.

Will this be my "Risky Click of the Day"?

After replacing the clutch on my SO's MX5, it's leaking coolant - only when stone cold - not a drop when hot.  This did my head in - but I've sorted the problem.

When you sign a NDA with a US-based company but the locals screw it up by not providing the subject of the NDA. Why waste everyone's time?

Handle9: Kids can go to the supermarket with their parents to buy a carton of rothmans and a slab of double brown. Is there really a difference?
Have you actually tried buying alcohol with a minor in tow?

Mr E planting 8 little trees across the bank but, not putting bricks around them as advised to by wife. The lawn man turned up to apologise for cutting down six trees down the bank with his weed eater... he hadn’t realised there were newly planted trees there until too late. Maybe bricks around them would have helped he suggested.

Having to relist a trademe auction after the person who won, initially responded but now ghosts me despite having email, mobile, and address, and could arrange to pick up what they won.

It's annoying that you can't both slam the time waster with negative feedback and get a refund for an incomplete sale.

On the soft drink thing:

Also has anyone found the wonderfully-named Pocari Sweat here?

I know the stuff. It's a better name than some Japanese translations ('fanny juice?') and tastes better than the name suggests.

I haven't trawled the local asian marts looking for it tho.

Going from the back of a bus I see someone's trying to convince us to drink cold Japanese coffee from a can. Good luck with that.

Pocari is an onomatopoeia for "punch" or "whack", so if you think of it as meaning something like "Sweat Buster", it's not as weird. The first time I ran into it, I thought pocari sounded like some time of small marsupial or similar...
When I head back to Japan to see the rellies, I buy lots of sachets of it. It does the same as Gatorade or other ion replacement drinks, but it isn't as sickly sweet.

Good parents will be buying Dunhill and a dozen mixed craft beer thank you very much!

Naah, just buy it from this place. If the single drum isn't enough, you can buy a pallet load of four at once.

Not so much annoyed but rather bemused at the recent increase in popularity of the word 'Digital' in corporate and marketing speak as though digital technology is some new-fangled thing.

At the hospital I worked at, they rename IT to "Digital Services". And digital means something quite different in a hospital. Google DRE.

And when working in IT at a bank, Branch Network has more than one meaning. Although there are increasingly fewer Branches to be networked whichever way you look at it.

The 8 year anniversary of the Kim DotCom mansion raid, in a few days time. Each one of us has donated at least a dollar each, in our collective taxes, on the extradition case.

I don't think New Zealand should reflexively kowtow to every American request.

But I don't believe the rich should get the best justice money can buy.

Perhaps it's a way of attracting international scofflaws to New Zealand: "got rich operating in gray areas, and just barely staying out of prison? Come to New Zealand, and we'll protect you for years! Enjoy lavish parties and your own personal $500,000 firework display while you wait!"

I am no fan of Kim Dotcom but I enjoy the way he has tied the legal system here in knots. I think our authorities got what they deserved for being so eager to act as lapdogs for the Americans.

Apart from that, Dotcom is charged with copyright violation, not murder or molesting children or terrorism. He is just a grifter looking for easy money. The Americans went way over the top with their helicopters and FBI and other macho BS and New Zealand authorities were shameless in bending over for them. On the basis of all that, I hope Dotcom wins and gets to stay here. I think he has been persecuted long enough.

kingdragonfly: Stores who put up holiday stickers like these

Stores who play Christmas music incessantly from about October to late December. I was at a Japanese restaurant last week where they were playing this crap, asked them to please put anything but that on. They put on Marcel Marceau's Greatest Hits instead, which was a welcome change. Followed it with The Wit and Wisdom of Donald Trump until we left. Or it may have been the B side of the Marceau record, couldn't tell.
