Nothing at all apparently - if you're white/wealthy, conservative, and smug.

It's not something I'd personally be interested in, but it's not like the only people who can afford to go to a black tie dinner are white, conservative, and smug (although I'm sure many are).

Because there are no non-white, non-smug non-conservative people who attend these events? Is it a fundraiser? Surely, you want wealthy people attending?

It's not a fundraiser.

Wealth is a relative thing, and it's much easier for a man to go hire a suit etc, for women they're far less likely to be able to find anything "off the rack" that's "appropriate" for grand events. I've said this once before somewhere in these forums and had that argued against, but women are still judged far more harshly than men based on their appearance, and they know it.

When I post about something small that annoys me, and the usual suspects try to tell me that "it shouldn't" because of what they think.

When people make insulting assumptions and generalizations then get upset when people call them out over it.

When someone thinks it's a good idea to "get the last word in" - regardless of accuracy or merit.

Banging or catching ones fingers when they are very cold. Just did this pulling the hand brake on in my chair causing me to forget the task I was doing due to thinking of new profanities to use and my chair rolling backwards down my ramp causing my elbow to engage the baluster. That bone is not amusing and cruelly named.

But it's close to humerus.

Fair enough. There are loads of things that annoy me that most people would tell me shouldn't. If it annoys you then it annoys you.

A "black tie dinner" at an event being hosted to celebrate diversity and innovation in a community.

Wait....what...?  You weigh your espresso....?  I'm intrigued, tell me more.

Thanks for explaining "plethora".

It means a lot.

If you had an American nearby, you might have found a happy recipient for a pint of two of over-extracted coffee, bottomless cup with synthetic creamer.   They do seem prefer if it's left to stew for a couple of hours first though. Best with grits, sausage, biscuits and gravy.
