As the complete opposite to this fun thread Grrrrrr ,

what are the little things in life that make you smile.  Things that make you say:  “yeah, life’s good”.  What gives you warm fuzzies?

Our good friend and frequent poster Geektastic had a grizzle in the other thread about cycle races.  This reminded me of the pleasure I got out of watching the BMX races during the 2012 Olympics.  Those pile-ups were awesome.

Most of the trouble in the world is caused by people wanting to be important. (T.S. Eliot)

Yes. My daily favourite is my Fisher AG7. Been round the world numerous times but still looks new and writes brilliantly.

The small things that bring most pleasure to me would have to be my dogs though. Better than almost any human I have ever met. They are not exactly small though...

A really small thing that gives me huge pleasure would be solitude.

A 3x2cm piece of good dark chocolate melting in the mouth (surprising much larger in reality than I thought, but I did measure it for accuracy!)

When I get home from work and my daughters yell "daddy!", run up and give me a hug. Gets me every time.

Someone saying "You look well!" instead of just confirming you're alive. Puts a bounce in my step every time

Anything that annoys Geektastic, which is fairly much everything outside of the UK :-)

When you are trying to solve a technical problem and you are working through it in a methodical logical fashion when you suddenly have a leap of intuition or whatever that allows you to arrive at the solution much more quickly. And afterwards you sit and think how the hell did my brain make that leap.

Alternatively, when you have been working on an obscure technical problem for a while and you finally hit on the correct combination of google search terms to take you straight to an article that confirms that it is a known problem and there is a solution.

Waking up to the sound of tui in the morning.

When I lived overseas I missed it so much that I bought a CD of New Zealand native birdsong and used a tui track as the wake-up "music" on my alarm clock for a while.
