Probably happened before (and regularly) but this is the first time I've really thought about it.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/international/128604809/england-stars-dire-warning-rugby-is-shrinking

Stuff added at the bottom "This sports article didn't write itself".

Well, actually, from Stuff's point of view, it largely did. Most of the article is either direct quotes or paraphrasing from an article written by Joe Marler, the England star referred to in the link.

Surely there is an algorithm by now that can enable a sports article to write itself. Just insert score, sport, featured player and press Enter.

It's not that easy, oh no no no.

Just off the top of my head, there's also 'insert dodgy ref decision which cost team [x] the game in the last [y] minutes', and if writing about rugby you need a semi-random routine to choose whether to describe the game as 'pulsating' or 'scintillating'.

Different toilet or white balance 'hack'?

Hardly a fair comparison either way.

Clever initiative by the people who make the charcoal tooth powder - they just diversified their market.

Would be funkier if it was a toilet-cleaning product that the woman found made great toothpaste. That would sell well.

Nadia Lim comments 'stupid and offensive' but not unique in business, Campbell says | Stuff.co.nz

Shouldn't it be "Comments about Nadia Lim"?

Sure, it doesn't have the 's there but it reads like she was the one making the comments...

Definitely a white balance hack, considering the cistern and wall behind it are magically whiter than in the previous picture. I suspect the only thing that was actually cleaned off was the brown scum around the inside rim of the seat.  You could probably get the same result with Jif or any other similar type of cleaning product. Oh, but then you wouldn't be able to make a fluff-news article about a "hack".

https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/business/467368/australian-company-to-offer-free-charging-for-electric-vehicles-in-new-zealand

It wants to challenge the market dominance of ChargeNet, and is offering seven kilowatts of free charging, equivalent to around 40 to 50 kilometres range

How is 7 kilowatts equivalent to 40-50 km range? 7 kWh would be close in some cars. Comparing seven kilowatts of free charging to an equivalent distance is meaningless without defining the period of time it is for.

Perhaps I unfairly blamed RNZ for the above, when it seems the actual company, Jolt, can't tell the difference between power and energy. You would think a company that supplies energy to consumers would know the difference.

https://joltcharge.co.nz/jolt-to-roll-out-free-and-fast-electric-vehicle-charging-network-to-cities-across-new-zealand%ef%bf%bc

EV drivers will have access to 7kW of free charging per day at JOLT fast chargers,

Cheesed off! Block of supermarket cheese reaches $21

A block of 1kg tasty cheese has been selling for $21.50 at Countdown as production costs and milk prices rise.

A Countdown spokesperson explained there is "significant pressure" on the price of cheese when asked to comment on the Mainland Aged Tasty variety.

What they don't tell you is that Mainland Aged Tasty is also the most expensive you'll find on grocer.nz. You can also get another brand of Tasty variety for $14.49. If you're not fussy, you can get Edam or Colby for $9.79. But they don't mention the range of prices. They just want people to be outraged at the most expensive cheese.

The average price of a kilo of cheddar cheese in 2016 was just $7.68.

So what's the average in 2022? They don't say. Hmmm, funny that.
