Now here's an RNZ headline that can be read two ways:

Sky falling for Netball NZ

Formally is not the same as formerly.

Today's piece on NZ Herald:

"Marc Evan Jackson, who played Braugher’s on-screen husband Kevin, took to X, formally known as Twitter, where he shared an adorable snap of the pair from set with the caption, “O Captain. My Captain.”"

RNZ:

"Unfortunately what scammers can do is they can really closely mimic website pages. In that sense it becomes really important to look at the website URL itself. NZTA is a really commonly impersonated brand. If you're clicking on an NZTA message and takes you to a page that doesn't end in 'NZTA.govt.co.nz' that's a really good indication that you're dealing with a scam," he said.

I wonder whether that ".govt.co.nz" is actually quoted verbatim, or whether it's an RNZ error.

I guess we have to remember anybody in the news organisations with enough seniority has Christmas off.

Context: 'Pakistan' should say 'Bangladesh'...at the same time Pakistan are actually playing a test against Australia in Melbourne.

It'll never fly in more ways than one.

Even if it did it sure as hell would never go anywhere near fixing the gridlock problem. You'd need that many of them they'd get in each other's way.

Don't these reporters ever think about the stupidity of what they print. I say print deliberately as I doubt they actually wrote it. They just printed a PR spin, hook line and sinker.

"The trip between Whangārei’s Marsden Point and downtown Auckland is set to take just 35 minutes and cost $55 to $75. While the technology is still being developed, Ocean Flyer’s $700m contract with Regent is payable only once its seagliders are delivered, giving the Kiwi company a measure of security."

There is no way a trip would cost $75 after one put down $ 700 million just to buy the things, plus testing, crews, certification, etc.

This investment was announced back in April 2022, so this story has been repeated every six months since then.

Plus 35 min road travel from Marsden Point to reach actual Whangarei or Waipu cove. Still, good for tourists.

@freitasm and @gzt I said, "It'll never fly in more ways than one. "

There's so many ways it doesn't work (fly).
