OK, not an issue with the headline as such, but...

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crime/96214321/mystery-man-broadcasts-pig-grunts-and-obscene-abuse-on-police-radio

Massey University senior lecturer [...] said [...] it was possible to tune a transmitter to any particular channel and transmit.

Did they really need to explain that a radio transmitter transmits stuff?   And worse, did they have to consult with an external expert about that??

Sigh....

I don't see an issue here. Most ordinary people don't have a clue how a radio works. I thought the article did a good job of providing simple explanations and explaining the difference with digital systems.

Journalists are not supposed to be their own experts when reporting something, even if they know about the subject (unusual). It is perfectly correct to interview an acknowledged 'expert' for an explanation.

Not a headline as such - but shows the state of their (Stuff) proof reading:

North Korea said it would make an important announcement at 0630 GMT (6.20pm, NZT).

I thought we were 12 hours ahead of GMT not 11 hours and 50 minutes.

How about this....

"Fake passports being made in Whakatane"

then

"Stolen passports have been altered in Whakatane to purchase goods through finance companies."

So, no fake passports being made at all then? Real ones being stolen and altered, in fact...

The thing I find funny is that I live in Whakatane and this is the first I've heard of this!

Not Stuff, but BBC: "Germany gay marriage: Couple are first to marry under new law"

Well, I'd expect nothing less than a couple.

Maybe the first marriages were all threesomes?
