Pilot forced to break brake hard in near miss between two Qantas planes on Perth runway

Two Qantas flights had a near-miss in Perth when a plane crossed a runway into the path of another jet commencing take off.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating the serious incident on Saturday, which occurred after a Qantas flight from Sydney landed and nearly cut across a departing plane.
The pilot had to break brake hard as the other jet, travelling to Sydney, was forced to abort take-off.

An initial ATSB report said the landed aircraft was supposed to stop short at a holding point before the runway but the pilots kept going until air traffic controllers told them to break brake immediately.

The close shave occurred in an area known as a runway incursion "hotspot", the ATSB said.

Qantas said it will review the incident, and are assisting the ATSB with its investigation, with a final report expected in a year.

Maybe the plane was just breaking bad.

Normally when aircraft 'Break' they are either;
a) fighters turning suddenly and hard while airborne, or
b) falling apart with great loss of life.

The spelling mistake is still there. I've noticed that Stuff and the herald fix those mistakes in online articles soon after publication. One News online - you are cheap ; ).

Watch?  Nope - I don't think so.

WTF are stories like this doing on the front page of a NZ main news website?

If that is the only way it can survive, it doesn't deserve to.

I wonder if we'll eventually get AI that can randomly string together words and write Herald headlines.

Hmm...

We have it now!

Only problem is that the words together don't make sense, or relate to the article itself!
