Ground speed, not air speed though - so not actually faster than the speed of sound in air.

Auckland Man saved 400,000 Qantas air points over 16 years, then they disappeared

More like "Auckland Man didn't read T&Cs for Airpoints scheme well enough, and then complained to the media afterwards".

No, it most certainly did not reach supersonic speed (speed of sound). If you read my post a page or two earlier you'd know why it didn't.

"Family grieving after shock death of pregnant Auckland mother Janay Johnstone"

A long article with this quote ""It was medical, it was sudden and it can happen to anyone at any time," her sister said."

But the article doesn't say what happened and how anyone can prevent or prepare for whatever it was.

At the end there's a link to a donation page.

Our mass media journalistic standards just get worse and worse. I realise they are caught between a rock and a hard place, but there is no excuse for a lot  of this. Dumb people keep hiring dumber people.

I know it's an opinion piece but an article on Stuff slagging off TVNZ for too much advertising made me giggle a little.

"Any plane that is currently in the air will be allowed to land and they will be grounded until further notice."

Just read that. Then wonder at its complete stupidity.

What if it wasn't allowed to land? Would it remain airborne indefinitely?

It *will* "land".

Results may vary.  Usability of said aircraft after "landing" may also be variable.

I was reading the Herald on my iPhone on Tuesday and I saw the Sky Tower glass floor story so started reading it.

Headline = Auckland Sky Tower glass floor shatters

Photo Caption = Auckland sky Tower glass floor cracks

1st paragraph = Auckland sky Tower glass floor shatters

2nd paragraph = Auckland sky Tower glass floor cracks

3rd paragraph = Auckland sky Tower glass floor shatters

4th paragraph = you get the picture.

All its other media portals also mixes the two words together and I even saw a couple; broken or it broke.

I thought shatter meant to break into small pieces and cracked meant facture but still hold together and broke meant separate into pieces.

Reading the story and viewing the photos I think a better verb would have been 'crazed'.

But who am I to take away sensationalism.

I suspect that quote is probably down to Trump and not the reporters.

This from the NZ Herald...

Trump added to the confusion Wednesday by suggesting that the decision to ground the plane was "psychologically" important but was neither urgent nor conclusive.

"We didn't have to make this decision today. We could have delayed it," he said Wednesday. "We maybe didn't have to make it at all. But I felt it was important both psychologically and in a lot of other ways."

So the FAA has grounded the airliners, costing airlines millions of dollars and disrupting travellers' plans, for no particular reason????

I'm continually boggled by how stupid he thinks people are.
