Here's the thing (to coin a modern phrase) Microsoft. My kids use these computers. my kids are young and still impressionable and innocent ( and long may that last).

Ideal targets, I would say. This is like complaining about burglars targeting old folks. If we're going to have a society of well-behaved, non-confrontational, credulous sheeple, then your kids are the perfect place to start.

So Microsoft, if you choose to show explicit materials, violence, gossip and inappropriate advertising to my kids I will take action. My computer, My kids, my way - not yours.

Stop ranting. MS don't care about rants. What frightens them is people actually doing it. Think Munich, India, China. Do it.

not a rant - it's a saterical monologue - and yes, ideal targets .Just coz my kids aren't hardned to porn, playing video games where they rape pros, and drown adn rape enemy combatants, jsut because they dont need to be terrorised by isis or see some slut with her mammories hanging out and her pubes flapping in the wind, doesn't make them rubes. big difference between gratuitous violence / porn and the real world.

What is worse than porn is the BS click bait. Brad, met Jen in a hotel room and Angelina is furious. BS!!!!  She wouldn't talk to scum raking magazines like the Womens Weekly and let them in on her closest secrets or personal anguish. She's not that dumb or desperate.

And talking of Women's Weakly - what in hades is it doing being included in something called a news feed. It's not news and it certainly doesn't feed the soul, quite the opposite. It's the lobotomy of the gossiping masses. Trivia, rumours, gossip and out right lies told my donkey holes with nothing better to do than perv on other people for a living.

What's wrong with the Women's Weekly!

....and my case is made   :-b

The internet has redefined porn - we have become so used to it we no longer consider what was porn as porn. What we stand for as common place now days was R rated less than 20 or 30 years ago.

My definition is classic - both in its greek classical sense nad as someone who still remmebers what porn looked like 30 years ago or less.

Interesting - Never used edge, recently went to W10 but just hid the browser shortcut, installed chrome put that on the taskbars. My kids never even looked for Edge, they just went for the easy way out :)

Also have not had any issues with minecraft - are you using the W10 version? Normal mincraft seems fine at our place after the upgrade (no user complaints anyway)

1 - edge pops up as default browser when it is explicitly called by the system - which ignores the default browser for some functions.

2 - minecraft - install on a new laptop - i7 8GB ram, Win 10 2GB dedicated graphics and i5 similar spec. Sucked until changed to Win 7.

I'd suggest driver or config issues. I dislike W10 intensely for lots of reasons including ongoing stability issues that would make a bowl of jelly in an Earthquake feel stable, but slow it has never been.

I wasn't suggesting that they were rubes. Just saying that MS is playing its part in delivering wage-slaves, including/especially the next generation, to the Corporates.

Bread and circuses; wages and porno-violence. plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

Luckily for me, that was a joke wink

The only porn I own up to is an occasional spot of unixporn.

Cmon it was a bit of a rant. ; ).

But now we are on the technical stuff, what is the problem with Edge? Is it a home page setting that resets somehow?

Btw if you really want to get Microsoft do a clean install take some screenshots and submit them to the chief censor for a pg13 rating lol : )

Anyone seen the latest series Versaille on the BBC - apparently the sex scenes have been upload by porn sites.  I'm sick of porn AND violence on tv (jeez do I sound like Mary Whitehouse/Patricia Bartlett?).  I trawl through Netflix looking for something that doesn't have people beating each other up.  Give me a nice clean murder like Agatha Christie any day.

I'm not so sure this is a good idea either. I think that the sanitized violence, ranging from Road Runner through Westerns and Star Trek and war movies, where someone gets shot and there is *no* disgusting blood and guts reality equally leads to a distorted view of reality. Kill someone and there's a momentary bit of excitement but there's no real consequence and everything turns out all right in the end.

I always use to visualize Mary Whitehouse sitting there viewing all that porn in order to complain about banning it.

Except that the murderer always gets caught.  Crime doesn't pay in Agatha Christie's world.
