freitasm: Hey folks... If you can find the bit you're responding to and highlight it then you can please delete the non-relevant part of the quote?

Whenever I try that, it tells me that the post no longer has the right something or other marks and refuses to post it. If you could just delete it like a word processor (some forums you can) then that would be easier.

There has been quite a wave of remorse by Leave voters on social media and also individual people interviewed by journalists etc.

What staggers me is the buyers' remorse

e.g. "I voted Leave but I didn't think it would actually happen and now it's actually going to happen, I wish I had voted Remain"

...

 Who is saying that ?

That's the way journalists work. They find an angle and then ask people till they find someone a) willing to say something in line with their angle b) willing to look unbelievably moronic on nation TV.

It's good for ratings.

There are some hurdles to cross and a path to put a stop to this if they really wanted.

They probably won't remain for the reasons already outlined.

As I posted before there's no proof that any of them actually voted leave. I would single out those interviewed by journalists as being particularly suspect.

Another forum I am on has this in the FUG. Posts with multiple (irrelevant) quotes are summarily deleted, and repeat offenders are temp-banned (3days) and later perms-banned if they continue. Keeps threads clean and conversations easier to catch up on too.

I have added this to FUG and reset the FUG to everyone.

@freitasm, the FUG now says:

"Posts will be removed and the user may be banned (either temporarily or permanently) if:

  • the posts contains unnecessarily long quotes from previous replies;"

How many levels of nested quotes is deemed to be unnecessary? I admit that I sometimes just hit the Quote button and forget how many levels it will contain.

You need to ensure that there are valid opening and closing quotes as highlighted.

Prove? Of course you can never prove it!

Some of the remorse on the twitter - you can check their feed. They were supporting brexit prior.

Well with millions of voters difference, a few voicing an opinion like this probably isn't representative of enough people to make a difference either way.

Having said that, the people who voted that way hoping it wouldn't happen or who buyers remorse just shows the absolute stupidity of those individuals. Almost defies belief. I can only hope they don't breed.

The way I see it, its a poor job of the Remain campaign putting forward their case. Its a case of emotion vs facts, and there are pros and cons on both sides, it seems few put up real numbers and real number based arguments when promoting to Remain

At least they voted. Democracy in action.

You must have missed the widely reported reports from the IMF, Treasury, and OCED on the likely costs of Brexit; and the 10 Nobel Prize winning economists who wrote an open letter supporting Remain.

etc etc etc

Rikkitic: people like you can just assert on and on you like that democracy simply equates to majoritarianism. If you are going to play this game, then don't be outraged about horrendous things that the ignorant majority have perpetrated throughout history and continue to perpetrate.

No, I didn't miss it, as I have not been following it, not till a few days ago. While the younger generation voted 66% to remain, clearly the other 1/3 must have missed it.

If the Remain vote was the best vote for the UK, and that the vote was close, means many missed it, or it wasn't sold well, or somewhere in the middle

So, to avoid the misjudgements of the ignorant majority, where to from here, for the next NZ, US, UK elections?
