Given the recent spate of muso deaths, my heart sank with each word as I read "Music - Phil Collins Fans...", and then thought it was pretty damn cruel to say "rejoice" under the circumstances.

Yeah, probably for about 3-4 years since his health started to suffer I was worried about that everytime I saw a headline. I'm gonna go see him ASAP.

I Cannot Believe It's True.

Do You Remember? when Phil Collins was on the radio all the time. I heard him so often he was Driving Me Crazy. I used to like him but he Droned on and on In The Air Tonight and every Saturday Night And Sunday Morning. I couldn't listen to him for One More Night now.

I Don't Care AnymoreI Don't Wanna Know about these remasters - It Doesn't Matter To Me. That's Just The Way It Is.

...I'll get my coat.

Would it be mean of me to mention I've seen him twice, both times at Wembley Stadium?  Love, love, love his music and his amazing drumming talent cool but I still wish for One More Night

Yes that would be mean! I am really hoping Against all odds I can get to see him.

I must admit there aren't any of his albums I didn't like so much, but I prefer his older stuff. He is an artist that appeals to me more when he has a broken heart.

But Seriously, No Jacket Required.

Separate Lives, Father and Son, and Against all Odds would be total favourites, but that is a hard call because there are another half dozen within %1 of that I love as much!

I also really liked a few of his Genesis Albums (We can't dance) with Songs like No Son of Mine, Never a time (God I love that song), hold on my heart.

Also Collins and Crosby singing Hero.

Not sure if you are aware, but his son Simon sounds a lot like him (though with a completely different type of music).

Yep, got them all in glorious WAV thanks to the record label.  Marvellous.  Its interesting to hear the demo versions of songs and compare with the final version too.

I run a LPFM (Low Power FM) radio station.. so get most new tracks from the record labels (ie: Universal/Warner etc).  Was most pleased to see these tracks!

I use to be a real fan and I still enjoy his music but apart from one or two songs (In the Air Tonight), most don't seem to have aged that well. What I mean is they haven't become classics like a lot of other songs seem to have from that era.

For a while there he was just sort of....uncool.

Speaking of which - when did Jeff Goldblum become cool? Don't hear about him in ages then he stars in ID4 and gets mentioned in the new Thor movie. Popped up on Graham Norton too.

Hi.

I just became aware (courtesy of a 4 month free extended trial of google music) that PC has gone though and had his older albums remastered.

...

I didn't see that coming, it was against all odds.

Well, he had retired (Apparently with near complete hearing loss in 1 ear and other health issues), which given he is on my list of people I want to see live before I die, was very disappointing.

I guess we didn't know Both Sides of The Story.

Back in 1986, when in Form 2, I won tickets on Radio Hauraki to see Genesis in concert at Western Springs Stadium, been a Phil Collins (& Genesis) fan ever since.

Well, I just got all 8 of the remasters courtesy of a friend who was coming back. The second CD of No jacket Required has "Long Long Way to go (live)" which is simply breathtaking. The best I've heard from the remasters so far from an sound improvement perspective. It sounds just like he is >>>>> There!

Well worth every cent.

Wow all the tracks in the 2nd CD are really spectacular!

Best money I have spent on Music in 5 years or more!

Cool.  I'll enjoy listening to those in our Home by the Sea.

I'm having a bit of CD renaissance at the moment.  When you are listening toMP3 all the time, you forget just how much better a CD sounds.

What's the instrument being played at the very beginning of this song?

Is it a horn of some description? I'm going to kick myself when someone tells me.

Edit : Uilleann pipes apparently!

Depends who you ask.  Jurassic Park was when I started appreciating him.  No wait, Buckaroo Banzai, which I guess surfaced after Jurassic Park.  Pity the sequel was never made.

I wonder if I can get the remastered collins songs to listen to, to see if there's a point getting them.  Will look on Amazon or Google play for samples.
