Hi all,

Is there any advantage to getting a Westpac Debit MasterCard apart from being able to use it for online shopping and overseas?

Would like some advice as am thinking of applying for to replace my current Westpac only debit card.

Happyone65 is correct, but I haven't had any issues so far  with my card.

I use it as a business debit card and it works well.

I had the westpac visa debit swapped for a mastercard one a while back, its quite frequantly failing at paywave and asking to insert. Its only used to buy house stuff from a joint account so doesnt get much use - mainly bunnings and similar but I dont recall the visa ever asking for an insert, the mastercard has done it at least 4 times.

Paywave has worked 100% of the time with mine, with the exception of at Countdown (where the Visa didn't work either). It works at Woolworths in Australia though, go figure...

I use it to get money from overseas ATMs, it is free at the partner banks which is pretty cool.

Visa debit works with paywave at Countdown now too, but still no love for MasterCard debit. Not realy sure what the problem is here - maybe they charge higher merchant fees?

Does MC credit work by Paywave ta Countdown?
