I am still curious to know how the judge expects the content to be removed from the Internet when the hearing is over. Should there not be some kind of basic technical competency test to protect everyone from ridiculous court orders?

Well, you will get it for free, so that would seem to satisfy your requirements???

?

Mike, everyone in the world who views that stream can make a screen copy of it and some no doubt will. There is no way Kim Dotcom or anyone else can remove it from the Internet once it has been streamed. It is a physical impossibility. A judge who makes an order like that does not understand the technology and is just making a fool of himself.

Sorry, it's your who's making a fool of yourself. No judge will hold someone in contempt of court for something they can't control. Just because someone might download the streams from KDC and then make subsequent use of it without the court being able to do something about that, it does not follow that the judge's orders are irrelevant/impossible to follow. The judge may be concerned about KDC hosting the videos on a website/medium clearly controlled by him and giving misleading clips of the hearing or whatever else. The point is that KDC cannot himself make direct use of the videos.

Do you ever disagree without taking the opportunity to deride/insult the person you are replying to ? Surely you are able to impart your take on the facts without being rude and or insulting at the same time?

Fair call I guess, but the same applies to the postee as well as the poster. Who is as well qualified and who is well known for out there antics? I do see your point, but see both sides. I do recall you have banged heads with both! I as have many have banged heads with one of these parties!

A huge amount of pirated files were deleted from the Internet as a result.

Only infinity more to go!

Yep, I feel for the 0.5% that were legal, unfair!

Sometimes the law really is an ass. Especially when it is trying to impress the wrong people. I actually think Dotcom is entitled to an apology, and maybe damages as well.

What? He is guilty as sin. His MU site offers legit uploading facilities, but how many are going to pay to see my cat videos, selfies, home reno videos? Its all about piracy.

I do agree that the efforts by the US and NZ are stupid. Choppers etc, really stupid, but thats another thread. Guilty as sin.

I am not arguing his guilt, just the way he was arrested. We seem to be in agreement about that.

We are for sure. The NZ/US alliance on this is a bit of a P%ss off. Ive been to the US a lot, I love it, and hate it. China, Asia, Europe, lots to like. But the seemingly alliance with the US we don't need. They have their own issues. We are a little like Switzerland. Neutral, Where is that?, Id like it to stay that way, and align with a country or countries that we can work with. No country can align 100% but we can do better.

The judge in charge of his case in the US used to be a  Disney lawyer...

Also, he said he would voluntarily go to the USA if he had bail like he did here but they said no.

I don't agree we don't need the US, we need them a lot more than they need us. I don't want to think about what life would be like if we were on the wrong side of them.

its farcical to believe the leadership of his company did not know how they were making money

Wasn't it proven in court that the Youtube founders and staff also knew that their site was being used for infringement and were aware of specific infringements without removing them? Oh snap..

I accept that, but we are small fry. We played the nuclear card back in the Lange day, yet we don't need military exercises that bad, and they were here in ChCh for The Antarctic base. We are small, but we can stand proud, dig our toes in, there are other regions we can be in. Eggs/basket. Being teeny we can possibly have some cake and eat some of it too

Was it also true that YouTube took action to remedy the situation? Mega did not.

Do you ever disagree without taking the opportunity to deride/insult the person you are replying to ? Surely you are able to impart your take on the facts without being rude and or insulting at the same time?

You might like to direct your little lecture at the OP of the post I replied to and yourself. Based on a completely inadequate understanding of what the order was likely intended to achieve, Rikkitic declared that the judge was making a fool of himself. I was simply letting him have his rhetorical device. You seem to love discussing my posting style but last time I read this isn't a thread for you to discuss other posters.

You know, it shows a little class, if, when you know more than someone else, you correct them in a way that doesn't belittle them or suggest they (Or outrightly call them) are stupid. Last time I checked, two wrongs don't make a right, and you could have taken the high road.

You can go ahead and choose to ignore that little bit of constructive criticism if you wish.

How about you take the high road and stop discussing my posting style? I am out of this thread - have no wish to see this being taken over by someone's crusade against me.
