And there will always be some that shoot their dogs when they don't come.

I don't think there is ever a bad time to talk about how absurd war is, how old men make decisions and young people die. - George Clooney

I've deleted a couple of comments.  Please keep it civil, and stick to the topic not personal attacks.

Its quite ironic that we also see those that really care for animals, yet fail badly caring for them. Or too many of them.

SPCA says that only about 50% of backyard chicken owners do an adequate job in terms of animal welfare.

Cite please - and comparison with SPCA "saying" on how well people look after their cats.

Concerns me a bit to see people saying have live chickens in their backyard an option. These birds are livestock and do not take care of themselves.

SPCA says that only about 50% of backyard chicken owners do an adequate job in terms of animal welfare.

Too have any animals needs responsibility...

Regrettably that applies to any animals in human care. I think chickens are under a similar law or council rule as to numbers allowed as other animals? And I assume that the law allows for all animals to be treated properly? There will always be some that are great carers, and others that are poor.

Yes - I'm "allowed" to have 6 chooks - but in deliberate defiance of rules got 8.

I love my chooks - my neighbours do too.  Eat my shorts.

I'd like to pinpoint exactly when "sticks and stones..." stopped being a thing...

Had two blue tick Higgins Family eggs, poached on toast, for breakfast. These really are excellent eggs if they sell them where you live.
