Yeah we did consider Tuts and whangarei heads, id have thought it would have same probs u talk about as KeriKeri?

What about Nelson, is it a gangland?

This property up near collingwood is spot on but the price is a bit more than I wanted but not to far off considering the cost to build these days. Given my predictions its 2 years off anyway and Ill be looking for wholesale pricing. But hey, I could be wrong, English might borrow another 500million to get votes, then we will have a quad bubble lol.

TimA:

I have family in Kerikeri, please dont move there if you want to do anything other than retire. The town has no income and is very small. You also get what comes with the Far North lingering around.

Honestly Tim I dont get that Vibe in KeriKeri, I DO in Paihia however, very much so.

I guess it depends where you live in KeriKeri. Im told the millionaires live out of town and the cheaper housing is in town unlike a city.

Ive seen some very expensive property up there. And place like Opito bay are just fantastic for launching for a fish or spearfish.

TeaLeaf:

As above. The mrs wants her dream, a horse and stable. Sigh. Im happy to live on a boat in Marlborough.

I dont want to be too far out of Nelson, I dont want to live in a really scummy area, but I also want the land to be cheap, not like $800k for a house in Nelson.

Just some pointers of surrounding areas would be good.

Is Blenheim that bad?

Somebody said Mapua, but again $800k.

What about Motueka?

Or what about areas further up around cable bay and possibly inland?

What do you mean by is Blenheim that bad? We have been here 3 years now and came from Auckland. Place is simply amazing, where we live there hasn't been a single crime committed in the time we have been here. And I live my wallet in the car unlocked, off street parking too.

I'd look at Wairau valley or something.

If you're commuting to Wellington, Whanganui is two and a half hours away by car and I know quite a few people who have lifestyle blocks here.  They're very affordable and none of the surrounding semi-rural areas are "bad neighbourhoods."

Wairarapa. An hour by train to Wellington.

Has some dodgy bits but plenty of civilised people to balance the bogans out.

Yep,  just avoid Featherston and a big chunk of Caterton. Martinborough and Greytown are very good.

The Marlborough region is for a reason, the Mrs wants to set up business there. I agree though if all one was after is a lifestyle block there are much better options near wellington from a feasibility commuting perspective.

Hi Ludez, no offense meant, its simply some statements that were made to me abut Blenheim, Ill have to see it for myself to make a judgement now based on what you are saying.

Do you live near the town or far out of it?

Certainly the pricing is enticing :-)

But Golden Bay would be ideal for the Mrs venture. Its part Eco part Tourism, part accommodation based. Also it means she can remain there and have a child without having to fly where as I will continue working until we can fully retire.

haha you make it sound like its a pearla :-)

I wish I had looked into the SI when I was young. Why we are over populating Auck is beyond me, but is fine with me now that Im getting out. Porperty is already at 3000% per capita on the house price index and essential workers like sewerage, rubbish/recycling, and essentially anyone on minimum wage ie retail assistants are now on the edge of being priced out of living in Auck like what happened in London. Oh gee  I wonder whats gonna happen. Not my problem, big middle finger to Key and English and the entire generation of greedy smug Jafas. Luckily im just another fantastic aucklnder.

What Rugby Team to support when you become a Marlboroughlite? Tasman Makos? Definitely my fav shark to see when Im spearfishing.
