Annual nationwide alarm test (in GER). Air raid sirens, smartphones, messengers, even openSource voice assistants ... everything was making noise at 11:00am - the only noise I'm happy about and that it works! 😆

edit: If you consider for a moment what they signal in an emergency, a test alarm is quite enough for me ... in these crazy days when one disaster in the world follows another.

Back in the cold war days our national nuclear attack alarm system was always tested at noon on the first Monday of the month. This was well-publicised so people wouldn't panic. One day someone pointed out that if they wanted to launch a surprise attack, they would do it at noon on the first Monday of the month. I always thought that was a pretty good plan!

That I no longer look like a massacred piggy in the face after changing my shaving approach. Yes, it's the very simple things.

I will say that I took advice from this forum years ago and have never looked back. For years I used Gillette razors and for years I tore my face to shreds as they only seemed to remain sharp for a week then went as blunt as hell. I just put it down to my sensitive skin and figured it was the same for all guys. Then someone on here mentioned that they'd switch from Gillette to Schick razors and couldn't believe the difference so I gave it go. What a difference, I will never go back to Gillette razors again.

I switched from the multi-layer plastic razors to the good old, single-layer "safety razors" of our grandfathers. The reason is the plastic waste and the fact that multi-layers are completely overpriced here - not to mention the quick wear and tear. However, the single blade is not forgiving of a sleepy or careless shave (along the lines of: I don't know the guy in the mirror, but I'll shave him anyway).

After a longer test phase, I arrived at all metal (German) Mühle razor with interchangeable blades from Wilkinson. But it seems more important to me to point out that the shaving products used have a decisive influence. I have been replacing them one by one and have actually found a very useful, inexpensive Italian company that knows its trade. In Italy you can get them on every corner, in Germany you have to go to Amazon. Have a look at this link and maybe you'll get some in NZ - all it takes is one or two items and you'll soon realise that the components are team players together. (I‘m in no way connected to this company except as a happy, convinced user of their white series).

Do not be deterred. The things do not cost luxury and in a very fair, comparable price range (here).

edit: Found it in NZ by a quick search, but roughly double the price as here (and maybe triple the price as in Italy)!

I lost my Wise travel card, so ordered a replacement on Wednesday night. It arrived at my place at about 1:30pm today (Friday). It was personalised and had come from Sydney. Amazing.

Same here. I can't recall how it came about but I met a rep that worked for Schick and he gave me a free kit from his car, and I was blown aware how much better it was. I was coerced into trying the new Gilette thing recently and it was horrible.

This is the one I'm currently using.

Quattro Titanium 5

Added bonus, Schick replacement blades are about 30% cheaper than comparable Gillette and last 3-4 times longer.

The Schick company, for example, does not exist here at all. Gillette and Wilkinson divide the market between themselves and also dictate the insane prices for these battery-operated razors from a distant galaxy that only last two to three years.
