Sitting down to write some code and going through all the phases from "how in the world am I going to do this?" to "this should work but it crashes as soon as I run it", to "now it returns the correct answer but is using an unsupported API" and right through to "works properly and does things in accordance with the documentation" all in one afternoon. Now I just need to get that Marshal.PtrToStringAnsi out of there and I'll be even happier!

Edit: Success! No ugly string marshalling, and I even got rid of the pointers!

The Paul Coll Joel v Makin Squash Final at the Australian Open. I have watched hundreds if not thousands of games, and the first game, was in my top 3 ever.

The match overall was incredible, but the first game, mind blowing.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, our Womens 7's and 15's teams are incredible athletes, and people.

Incredible effort from our 7's team today in NYC!

Listening to a magpie singing from the top of a tree two doors down. Reminds me of growing up in the country.

Reminds me of Dennis Glover’s classic poem The Magpies set in 1930’s depression-era rural NZ.

Waking up and feeling very safe thousands of miles away from conflict and bombs after watching the hell unleashed elsewhere. We may suffer with no fuel but at least we have a roof over our heads and intact windows to keep out the cold.

Saw a closeup of half a splintered door in a living room smashed by a bomb and it put me inside that room with kids toys lying around and a wall missing. We have become so immune to watching bomb rubble that we forget the human reality of the people displaced. So yes, we may lose our comfortable existence for some time, but that’s insignificant to what others are going through and I feel a little selfish, but very grateful to be in NZ even minus fuel.

And when you see how many cars are on the road with only one driver, it can't be that bad that people aren't carpooling. πŸ˜πŸ˜‰

When you hang washing outside, and come back less than an hour later with more washing, and the washing is dry!

4 Loads, washed and dried in 5 hours baby!

Most of my sports gear seems to be dry by the time I've finished hanging it up.  :-)

The addition of a Butane Torch to my BBQ setup has changed the experience of starting the BBQ from 'please please light properly' to light, and walk away with confidence.

Much less stressful and annoying.

Walk away?

I use an open fire pit. Once lit, there's no walking away. It's around the fire all the time. Make sure there are no accidents.

Yeah this isn't an open pit. It's a MasterBuilt 600 Series. I had it's older brother and for years lighting it was a lottery.

Since learning via email from a stranger that I've been selected for a donation of €2,000,000, I've been thrilled all day. I'm just not sure who the recipient is supposed to be. 😁

Their address is probably somewhere in Lagos or Abuja.

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell
