Ha!  There was a whole mob of these little ones swimming in a pool - but a few adult females sitting on the rocks.  One sounded like it had C-19 - really nasty cough - probably had a fish bone stuck in its throat.  These kids were safe where they were - the adult seals were about 100m away, they let you know if they're not happy. They're used to people - plenty of surfers etc in the area, the seals play in the surf with you, ride waves etc.

You talking about seals or humans...

Great photo! And a great thing for kids to experience.

Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21

Only reading MOH Covid-19 updated and ignoring press, social media, forums and mostly all other sources of BS. So much better and makes me smile.

I find it interesting the huge amount of coverage and events being held in uk and the relative complete absence here.

I understand how important ww2 is in the uk and also mindful of criticisms of nationalism , British exceptionalism and feelings around Brexit.

I remember reading an opinion piece from ex german senior diplomat about UK's fascination with ww2 ie movies about dunkirk, churchill in war etc and questions of whether uk is too interested in looking backward in history. ? Unconscious realisation of being declining state.

As a German, I have a full understanding of the British (and other peoples) - after all, what our ancestors did on behalf of Germany in the world at that time was not exactly glorious. I am glad that we lost, because what would the world be like today if the tyranny of National Socialism had won the war? Just as NOT ALL Americans are for Trump today, NOT ALL Germans were for Hitler at the time - opposition was also life-threatening. A harmless joke could mean concentration camps and dead for the "average Fritz" as well. The "millennial Reich" lasted just 12 years and even that was too much.

I think it's always easier to look back on times when your countrymen did glorious things for the greater good. And of course the winners retrospectively define what the greater food is.

Hence America's fascination with the Alamo, Battle of Midway, Okinawa, Indian wars, waggon trains, etc.

Cable management arrived today after desk grommets arrived yesterday. Sooooo much better, even if one of the grommets were missing.

Now that I have coated the hot-dip galvanized weather and antenna mast at home with 'Hammerite' for the third time, I will work in the company in the coming week and get airborne again. Happy to meet the colleagues from the same red team weekwise. The others from the blue team will not join us before Corona is no longer an issue (hence for a long time I fear).
