Oblivion - convoluted story that makes no sense and is overly complicated for the sake of it, too much exposition in the beginning then not enough in the middle then ALL THE EXPOSITION at the end. It just tried to be too clever and failed miserably. Some of the visuals were very nice, and the tech was very clean and pretty. But just a terrible film overall.

Olympus Has Fallen - Die Hard in the White House. Silly, terribly CGI, but it knew what it was and wasn't trying to be anything else. Recommended for a bit of fluff action movie.

We just finished watching The Croods have to say probably the best movie Nicholas Cage has done for quite some time. Great visuals lots of vibrant colours and the story wasn't too bad either my 4 boys all give it 4 or 5 outta 5. We didn't see it in 3d but it was pretty obvious which parts were made for 3d. Overall my opinion is 4 out of 5 taking a point for the romance side of it lol.

Gangster Squad - 8.5/10 - Very entertaining, great script and great actors.

Jack Reacher - 8/10 - Tom cruise surprised me on this one, he wasn't too bad at all. Good story and I enjoyed the action.

Looking forward to seeing Oblivion!

Don't.  Don't look forward to it and don't see it.

Iron Man 3 - Pretty much excellent.  Funny, action packed.  Huge stakes and great villains.  Best of the three IMO.

I made the mistake of starting to watch "Lens Flare"... sorry, its actual name is "Total Recall"

30 minutes in and I think my eyeballs have lens flare permanently.

Have decided I will endure because Kate Beckinsale.

Well I know a number of people who contribute to this thread who thought it was great (oblivion). I also enjoyed it a lot.

Just finished (although I can't believe I actually did) watching Movie 43....1 out of 5 this movie is terrible and gives Scary Movie 5 a run for the worst movie I have ever seen. Unfunny ! ! !

watched Jack Reacher tonight.
I'd give it a 5/10
There was nothing particularly original about this movie at all - and the title character was swimming in action hero clich├ęs.

Iron Man 3 (3D) - 8/10

There's really not much I can say without giving away spoilers, other than that I really enjoyed this.  IM1 was brilliant, and IM2 was okay.  IM3 is definitely better than IM2, but I think the original still pips this one for best Iron Man movie.

I read a while back that this film was going to take Tony Stark "back to the cave where it all started", figuratively speaking.  Having now seen the film, I can see what that means, and it was pretty cool to see from the perspective of the character's development.  I also read that he spends a lot of time out of his suit.  This is true, but despite this there is still plenty of suit action.  It was good, however, to see Tony Stark having to fight without all his gadgets, proving that Iron Man is as much about the Man as it is about the Iron.

As always, there is a post credit sequence (PCS), but it's at the absolute end, so if you're keen, make sure you stay right to the end of the credits.  I don't think there's any groundbreaking clues or hints with this PCS, but for completeness you might like to stick around.

Better avoid the next Star Trek.

"Lense flare" is JJ Abrams middle name.

Funny as the film is called Into Darkness

Interesting... Well, seems like there are a few mixed feelings about Oblivion. I am a big Sci-Fi fan though, so I'm not sure if I can resist going to see it Smile

Iron Man 3. I was disappointed. I love these type of movies and with all the rave reviews I had high expectations, I felt it was a bit stupid. Awesome special effects and a few yahoo moments, but left me cold. 7/10 being generous.

Well I just got home from watching the new Evil Dead movie at The Embassy in Wellington. Although I didn't not enjoy the movie (great knowing it was filmed and edited locally (as in in NZ)) it heavily relied on the scary moments being related to actual gory a la Hostel / Saw movies for it's scares.

I don't recall any person in the movie jumping (including myself) at any of the supposed scary moments although you could certainly here a few squemish groans at some of the gory parts.

Overall not terrible but simply not great if only they'd managed some actual scares then I could score it higher but I can only give it a 3.5 out of 5.
