Star Trek:Into Darkness at 1080p on 63" screen.

Really enjoyed it, anything Star Trek is a must watch for me. Full of plot holes and breaks with canon I am sure, but a fun movie nevertheless.

Now I need to find a copy of Wrath of Khan and TOS's Space Seed to complete my Khan revision.

I saw Elysium as part of a complimentary post presentation show from a vendor in San Jose. Their presentation was on VDI and how hardware acceleration was essential to its sucess. It's the first time I have seen Powerpoint on a movie screen! That was impressive.

The movie was IMHO worth what I paid for it viz. nothing. Some gratuitous graphic flesh scenes and not much of a plot.

3/10.

Caught Red 2 the other night, has the same charm of the first, highly enjoyable. You could tell the actors enjoyed filming it and it showed in their performances. Willis essentially played the straight guy to everybody around him hamming it up.

freitasm: Watched Now you See Me at last. Seriously bad plot, bad acting all around. I gave it 5/10.

Lulz...

I give it 5/10 also - great idea, poor execution and terrible casting/acting

The trailer for the 2014 RoboCop remake is out. Doesn't look bad:

I've watched many movies recently and found that "Senna" is a standout. It is an absorbing movie for many reasons, even watching the extended version. The movie is primarily assembled from archive footage yet at times it was easy to forget that it was twenty years ago. Senna seems to be better respected as a person than as a Formula 1 champion. Senna's death was one of the great modern spectacles including, apparently, the largest gathering of mourners in the modern era - even more than at Princess Diana's funeral.

There is far more scope for character and plot development in TV than movies these days. Some directors, writers actors and producers have gone to, or dabbled in, TV because they feel it is a superior medium.

So if you get a chance, watch the US version of House of Cards with the excellent Kevin Spacey. It's more of a time investment than a movie, watch it over several nights. But it is fantastic.

I've watched World War Z and Sanctum in the last couple of days.

World War Z although not so bad the Zombies weren't that zombie like although there was a couple of jumpy moments for my partner but she ended up rolling over and going to sleep. I'd give it a 6 out of 10. I like my zombie movies scarier and with more than just the one man doing all the work. I really thought we'd moved on from those days of 1 man saqving the world (excluding superheroes).

As for Sanctum yet another visually stunning movie by James Cameron. Based loosely on a true story called Nulaboor Dreaming (or something like that) which can actually be found on the Bluray of this. My only regret in watching this for the 2nd time was that I was watching it on a small screen (32 inch) instead of my usual 50 inch. I still enjoyed watching it again and so did my parents. 7.5 outta 10.

I saw Riddick this morning. I didn't think that much of it. The plot was quite a rehash of Pitch Black. This time, monsters come out during a heavy rain storm.

This is The End - if you like Seth Rogen and his style of movies (Superbad, pineapple Express etc) , then you'll love this :) End of the world, bunch of actors playing themselves at a party at James Franco's house when the end of the world comes.... 50% of the movie was ad-libbed.

7.5/10

This is 40.

Much of it really quite hilarious...while much of it was uncomfortably close to home...
