And that White House gets taken over movie, 'Olympus Has Fallen' (which looks exactly like White House Down?!) I'd give that a 6/10 also.

I can't remember which one is which now lol.

Desolation of Smaug, 8/10. Going to go with what most (50%+) people are saying and that its better than the first movie, however I think LOTR is better.

I haven't read the books, not a fan of reading, so I don't know the ending. Im glad that's the case because if I had read the books I would be sitting there in the cinema thinking "such and such must be coming up soon" and "hey that wasn't in the book".

Sound City: The Dave Grohl documentary on the legendary Sound City recording studio in Van Nuys, LA.
Gritty, filled with great music and some interesting side-stories.
Personally as a rock fan and a music buff, I loved this doco. 10/10.

completely agree on that.
I'd give it a 10/10 also.

As the biggest Tolkien nerd I know,  can say that everything that was added in/left out was done for better audience engagement and to great effect and does not alter the overall outcome of the story. My only nitpick was the Beorn bit. I think that could have been done better and after seeing Jackson's interpretation, I'm really glad now that he left Tom Bombadil out of the LOTR movies.

That said, TDOS was awesome fun, fantastic chase scenes and as always, Legolas gets all the cool moves (although this time Tauriel gets to join him). Solid 8.5/10 for me.

Olympus came out first, and was the superior film IMO :)

Best of a bad bunch anyway!

Watched Olympus has Fallen on a plane from AU but had to cut it short 15 minutes. It wasn't so bad - good enough for me to watch the last 15 minutes on Netflix when it was made available online last month.

Pacific Rim... I was expecting a crappy popcorn movie and it was too bad to be even called that. Got 30 minutes in and turned it off.

Are we talking kind of like a live action Evangelion here? Because if so, I'm totally in.

We're talking Independence Day meets Godzilla.

I have now watched it three times and still feel I got exactly what I paid for. An excellently put together action movie with crappy acting and thin subplots (man loses brother, finds solace in giant robot with girl who is equally troubled) - exactly what I thought it would be.

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug 6/10

The dragon is awesome. I was dissapointed with some of the CGI as it was just not convincing and also felt the first half was flat but I still really enjoyed it just not wowed by it.
