Batman v Superman

Just...awful. Lex Luther was nicely done but the whole film just lacked a real point or decent story.

It's a comic. It's supposed to be fun and entertaining - this was the equivalent of overdosing on Leonard Cohen playlists....

This movie has to be the most conflicting movie in recent time. I've seen lots of comments regarding every character, the story, the fight scenes etc. Some liked Lex, some hated lex. Some liked Superman, some hated Superman. The point of the movie was to see how the world reacts to an alien coming to earth and destroying an entire city if not more. Is he good, is he bad? Also the set-up the Justice League. FWIW, Wonder Woman was my favourite bit of the movie and I'm a Batman fan.

Although of course Superman did not destroy the city, except as a by product of defending earth from Zod et al...so he is not actually bad really. Which just made the film more pointless. The fact that billionaire Bruce Wayne apparently lacked the IQ to work that simple fact out did not really endear him to me either.

I found the WW bit just a tad random, without explanation and somewhat gratuitous (we forgot to include the number of women characters required by the PC Diktat so what can we add?).

I myself am definitely it the "hate Lex Luthor" band camp. He had no real motive to kill Batman and just came across as crazy almost mad scientist instead of cold calculated billionaire. If anything Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor was the WORST thing about the film.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople - Albany events cinemas. 9/10 a great movie. Loads of laughs and very well made. The kids were very surprised at first as the theatre was almost full, most movies we go to with the kids have not been very busy so great support for the film. I am not sure the PG rating is appropriate, R13 would be better. My kids aged 11 and 8 where taken back by the violence and mild profanities that I wondered if it was just a bit to much for them. I also heard other kids in the audience voice their concern so just something to be aware of if you are taking kids.

The references to other NZ movies was a nice touch and done really well and I thought the acting was all very strong. Sam Neil did a great job and the character grew on me quite a lot as the movie went on.

Hunt for the Wilder People. Amazing. Must watch Movie in my opinion. 9/10.

I would have liked a little more plot filler etc, felt I needed more, but in all amazing acting and scenery.

I watched the trailer, but saw no

  • Explosions
  • Car chases
  • Space battles
  • Aliens
  • Gunfights
  • Superheros

So it did not get past first base!

Yeah, to be honest it doesn't really strike me as a movie you'd enjoy.

Hateful Eight ... amazing! [pretty dark though, quote Tarantino "there are no good guys in this show"]

**This post may contain spoilers for BvS, don't read if you don't want to get spoiled*

Point 1:

Superman appears on earth, destroys cities. The person he was fighting against is no longer around, how does earth know that Superman is in fact the good guy? Just because the US government says he is good? Sure.....

Add to that Superman appears at the courtroom, and there is an explosion broadcast live on TV all over the world.

Point 2: WW is part of the justice league, and a very key part of it at that. The movie was called BATMAN VS SUPERMAN: Dawn Of Justice. I see no mention of WW in the title. How would you of introduced her? We will know more backstory and how she came to earth in her movie coming out later this year, also how she remained "Hidden and anonymous" as such.
