I had this debate with a friend as I thought it was funny that the enemy was unnamed. He thought they said Iran
I had this debate with my wife - I was convinced they said Iran. She said they never mentioned the actual country, just the general topographic location (i.e. over the hill and in the valley etc)

Top Gun - Maverick
VMAX - Dolby ATMOS
4/10 - Corny script
8/10 - Excellent soundtrack
10/10 - superb, outstanding, magnificent, the most exceptional flying scenes I have ever seen in a movie. It was nigh near impossible to tell real from CGI.
PS: I'm not a Tom Cruise fan
iMac 27" [14.2] (late 2013), Airport Time Capsule 5th gen, iPhone13 x 2, iPad6, iPad Mini5, Spark Smart Modem 1st Gen
Panasonic TV Viera TH-L50E6Z (1080p), Panasonic Blu-ray PVR DMR-BWT835, Yamaha AVR RX-V1085 [6.1 Surround Speaker System], Apple TV 4k 64Gb (2nd gen)
Kia Sportage EX (2019), Mazda Demio (2001)
The difficult we can do immediately. The impossible takes a bit longer. But Miracles you will have to wait for.
Moonfall: End-of-the-world disaster film that's exactly the same as every other end-of-the-world disaster film, hints of some sort of looming apocalypse, then about half the film with misfits/geeks/discredited advisers trying to convince everyone else the threat is real, then some CGI scenes of things being destroyed, and finally some James Bondish last-minute-rescue. I stopped watching after ten minutes when the progression became obvious.
Jupiter Ascending: Threadbare, barely coherent plot, random characters that appeared and disappeared, but look at all the CGI, we’re going to CGI so much, you’re going to be so sick and tired of CGIing. Yep, got sick and tired pretty quickly.
Suicide Squad: This had the potential to be a Guardians-of-the-Galaxy style doesn't-take-itself-too-seriously superhero film. GotG had a decent plot, likeable characters, humour (including in-jokes), and was a fun watch. Suicide Squad has no discernable plot, thoroughly dislikeable characters, and crude attempts at humour about as subtle as a baseball bat to the face. It was like trying to watch an anti-GotG.
Men in Black: International: "Hey, lets see if we can squeeze some more money out of this franchise. Round up everyone you can find in the Columbia parking lot and give it a go".
Uncharted: Generic treasure-hunt movie with ludicrous plot, e.g. a sea battle between two galleons suspended in mid-air by helicopters. Even if you ignored that level of silliness, which seems to be mandatory for treasure-hunt movies, there was a lot of other stuff which was just plain lazy, e.g. a 20th-century enamelled metal sign on a "Roman cellar", or two completely intact Spanish galleons at the bottom of a cenote whose only access was an underwater passage just wide enough for one person to swim through. However compared to the other ones above it sucked a lot less.
Dune: Finally a film that didn't make me want to throw up in my mouth. Go and watch it.
Just introduced my son to two Will smiths movies.

Top Gun Maverick 7.5/10 from me
You pretty much covered it for me.
It needs to be seen at the cinema to really appreciate it. Big scenes with big sound.
Plenty of fan service as well. Think of any memorable scene in the first movie and there was at least a nod to it in the second, if not a full blown homage.
A predictable and far fetched story, yes. But worth seeing for the non-cgi real life flying sequences. Including Mr Cruise getting shot off a carrier in the back seat of an F model Super Hornet. And enduring some serious g in the same jets (along with other cast members).
Haven’t been in a cinema for two and a half years, but this was worth it. I walked out with a smile on my face.
So maybe sneak it up to an 8/10 for the pure entertainment value.
I agree with pretty much everything you and floyd said. I mostly thought it was great, the only bit that I found dumb was the final plane he flew. That felt really forced and stupid.
I had a great time and really enjoyed watching it on IMAX in a very loud Atmos theatre, it was great fun.

As with the original movie the "enemy" was named "the enemy."
It was pretty obviously Iran but they never say who it is.
House of Gucci. Adam Driver, Lady Gaga with Jeremy Irons and Al Pacino but Jared Leto.
Still enjoyed it though.
The French Dispatch. Too much Wes Anderson-ness for me. Couldn't finish it.

Adam Sandler not being stupid and goofy.
Could get flogged for this.... but here we go :-)
Adam Sandler is actually a better actor than he's given credit for. I'm certainly not claiming he's regular oscar material either. He definitely doesn't help the opinions with his stereotypical characters which, lets be honest, dont have any depth to them. However; when I watched Reign Over Me I was honestly blown away by his performance. Truly it left me thinking why he hasn't done more of these serious of roles. A friend recommended it to me with the comment "dont let the fact its Adam Sandler put you off....you'll be surprised". They were 100% correct.
Haven't watched Hustle and maybe he's pretty average in that.

My thoughts exactly.
I haven't managed to get past the two thirds mark...I've tried a couple of times.

I was waiting for this movie a few months back, since it was first announced. I was not disappointed. I thought it was really good with lots of different stories supporting each other.

I was looking forward to this but found it average. Didn't like John Cena's Peacemaker character. Having said that, I gave Peacemaker tv series a go and absolutely loved it. John Cena proves he's got some acting chops and it really develops Peacemaker.
Lightyear - 8/10 in the animated movie space.
Took the 9 year old today - enjoyable Pixar movie that killed a few hours. Enough in there for the parents as well - couple of laughs. Held the interest of the young fulla for the full movie so that's a win.
