Watched Taking of Pelham 123 (new version) last night and I thought it was really good. Travolta was a great bad guy as always and Freeman was his usual stellar self.

Saw two movies this weekend:

The Lovely Bones - not bad at all, a bit lengthy and not as punchy (ie. slow) as I thought it would be. 7.5/10

My Sister's Keeper - wow! A bit of a downer for lazy Saturday viewing but a fantastic movie. I have to say it was a bit of a typical/formulaic tear jerker but still, very well crafted and acted! 9.5/10

District 9. Enjoyed it, although I am not really a sci-fi fan

Just watched Zombieland... It's listed as "comedy" on iTunes but I didn't laugh much. Still, good to see zombies.

I watched The Bad Lieutenant the other day. Nicholas Cage was pretty good but I feel a little misled by imdb. I was expecting an action but it is more a drama. Still not too bad but probably 6.5/10.

Anybody seen The Hurt Locker yet?

I've seen a few lists of the top 10 movies from 2009 and that is at the top of all of them.
Avatar not on any of the lists by the way :)

Yes, I suspect as much. That's why I am not seeing it in cinemas. One day, if it comes to TV I might watch the first segment before the ad breaks and decide it was crappy all along and I was right.

TBH, I reckon the ONLY place to watch it is at the cinemas in 3D. Not worth sitting in front of a TV for 2.5 hours if there's no 3D gear.

I can't see 3D, then I will skip it altogether.

As a supreme techno enthusiast I think you really should see it 3D at the cinemas!!  Like everyone has said its not even about the movie, its an experience that is just out of this world!!
