Watched The Conclave about a month ago. Worth it, for all the twists and turns. Ralph Fiennes is really good and I think more liberal than the current world we live now.

Twisters on Neon.

I expected a little more of a sequel from this movie - I sort of thought going into it that it would be related to the original movie Twister. It's more like a reboot.

It was fine.

Entertaining to a certain degree, but just too much like the original to be really engaging.

The Bricklayer on Netflix.
it’s pretty ordinary, but on a day off work sick, it gave me a couple of hours light entertainment.

Thunderbolts. Visited Reading Dunedin while down for the Otago Uni open day. It's ok but that's about it. I'm sitting closer to 6/10 rather than the very favourable rotten tomatoes public rating. I thought Bob was very good but as my daughter said the focus was too much on one of the characters and it would have been nice to have the others shine more. Sound in the theatre was very good which was a nice. Yes Bob is the same Bob off TG: Maverick

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning

My rating 7/10, my young adult daughter 7/10, my wife 4/10, my work colleague who fell asleep when he watched it 3/10

I appreciated the slowness during the “let’s appreciate the past” moments. The stunts and action sequences were excellent. Although I feel a lot of it will not be appreciated when the younger generation just think it is all done via CGI and in a studio lot. It was the wooden, no emotion, Tom Cruise performance along with the long run time with not much of a story that will put people off. My wife described it as an Indiana Jones rip off led by a character who seemed to have too much Botox so could not show any emotions.

The motivations of the "baddie" (the human one) was hard to understand - exactly what was he trying to achieve with that final chase sequence??  Trying not to give plot away, the baddie needed a thing that Ethan had; and there was a chase that made it almost 100% impossible for the baddie to actually get the thing-that-Ethan-had should the baddie manage to "defeat" Ethan during said chase sequence.  Absolute rubbish plotting/motivation.

Watched Thunderbolts with my youngest kiddo. We both really enjoyed it and the more adult tones it presented. Definitely had an 'origin story' feel to it which sets them up nicely for future Marvel movies. 7.5/10 from the both of us.

Saw the latest Mission Impossible movie at the cinema after winning free tickets.

It was typical MI fare, but really enjoyable. 7/10 from me.

Also - watched Fountain of Youth on Apple TV+ last night.

Take your brain out and enjoy the spectacle of a proper globe-spanning faux-archeological action flick that has a bit of everything and sets itself up to become a franchise. 7/10

The last chase scene was too long. Could have been 1/3 short.

Too much "so many adventures together, thanks Ethan, we love you" at the start.

Lilo and Stich 7/10

It's a live action remake of the 2002 animated movie from Disney.

I thought it was a good remake. The opening felt very rushed. Some things that were in the original were cut.

The original animated movie is still better and is my favorite version.

Watched Beetlejuice Beetlejuice last night on Neon.

Its...OK.
Many of the original cast return, but as I said to my wife - it all just felt a bit familiar and it's not one I'd rush to see again, depite having seen the original many times. 5/10

Forgot to mention we also watched the latest adventure epic from Apple TV+ last week:
Fountain of Youth

It was a fun watch, if a little cliche

The Accountant 2

It was ok. The Accountant was much better IMO but it was watchable. 5/10

Dangerous Animals - what is it about Australian produced thrillers ? They always seem to nail it :) If you like your thrillers with some violence, then worth seeing. I won't say anything else for fear of spoiling it. 8/10
