I was going to save it for the day, but I guess I should jump in now since everyone else is.

I would like to wish all Geekzone members a very happy holiday time. I would like to thank the moderators for keeping Geekzone such a unique and enjoyable playpen. I would also like to express my gratitude to the many knowledgeable people here who have taken the time and trouble to help me out with various technical issues. The generosity and patience of Geekzoners is something to be celebrated. I don’t think there are many other places like this one.

I would like to add special holiday greetings to a few users I have clashed with in the political forums and elsewhere. Opinions differ and debates sometimes get heated, but in the end I think we all want the same thing, and the arguments are only about the best way to achieve that.

@Pumpedd: Although you dislike many of my comments and we strongly disagree about New Zealand politics, some of your positions I support completely, such as your opinion of Donald Trump and your intelligent attitude to medicinal cannabis. So maybe we aren’t all that far apart after all. I wish you a very enjoyable Christmas.

@6FIEND: Also a happy Christmas to you. I salute your knowledge, erudition and obvious intelligence, and I respectfully disagree with nearly every political statement you make, but at least you do back them up with lots of facts and figures. It is hard to argue with you so I will try not to. I still disagree, though.

@networkn: What can I say? You are a worthy adversary, humane, charitable, and with a sense of humour as well. I find myself agreeing with you on many issues, such as your observations on helping needy children. I’m sure there will be more in the future, just as there will be more disputes. Have a great holiday with your family.

And to everyone else, friend and foe, also munificent holiday greetings. We are all good people here. It is a privilege to be in such company.

Happy Christmas all.

Was just outside - clear as a bell out there - and saw a shooting star. A good omen - or a random cosmic event?

I'll leave the interpretation to you!

Have a good one and stay safe if you're straying out onto the roads.

Merry Christmas Geekzoners!
It's 5am Christmas morning and I'm off to work.

I only came for the badge.

But seeing as I'm here now, Merry Christmas to all of you and your loved ones.

Merry Christmas to you all.

Extra thank you to those who have to get up early to work today - keeping the country running in whatever capacity you do.

Merry Christmas.

I don't care much for a "great new year" because I never have a great new year. I couldn't wait for 2010 to start because 2000 to 2009 sucked, but nothing really changed.

Like, maybe the first few days of a year are okay, but after that, things just go back to how they were. 2017 certainly sucked for me. A new year is just a fad. That's because the year is just new, and people forget that a new year could mentally begin any day you wanted it to. So 6 June, 2018 to 6 June, 2019 is really not different from 1 January, 2018 to 31 December, 2018. Is it? But being realistic, after a few weeks of an actual calender year beginning, it's never gonna stand as a perfect new year anyway, as it's almost always gonna go back to people experiencing the same old depression.

I'm sorry 2017 sucked for you. Maybe start a new thread and tell us why? It might help?

Merry Christmas all! Unlike when I was a kid, I managed to stay in bed until a mostly-reasonable hour but now it's time to get into the presents (even if I did buy them for myself tongue-out)!
