UncleArk: Two things deeply annoyed me. The starship running our of "fuel" (with many other vessels sitting in docking bays all presumably containing "fuel") and the fact that in the age of having seemingly instantaneous communication over vast distances Admiral Holdo had to remain behind to be a pilot... what - no remote piloting capability from one of the escaping vessels?

And until she decided to turn the ship around (which wasn't part of the original plan) she wasn't even piloting - she was just standing around waiting to die.

Jaxson: I felt this move shat on Luke, in favour of setting up a new platform for new characters. Luke saved Vader and then hid away after some nephew problems. Didn’t seem true to the character.

Luke went nuts somewhere. No doubt about that. Really nuts. I think there is a reason.

That would be the bit where Kylo killed all his students and burned down his Jedi dojo school?

It would be before Luke was standing over a sleeping Kylo with a light saber and going to kill him. Luke. Crazy old man.

According to a number of things I've read, initially Mark Hamill hated the script, but was eventually convinced and now fully embraces what Rian Johnson had Luke become. So if Luke's OK with it, I think we should be too. :)

According to a number of things I have not read but which are probably true, Mark Hamill hated the script, still hates the script but the studio paid him heaps to say otherwise...! surprised

So a 3rd generation Skywalker, trains under Luke Skywalker for a long time, is only semi good, disappoints Snokes a lot, made to look like a fool (RIGHT TO THE VERY END) by some red head who has trouble uttering words faster than 1 word per second.

Then some abandoned girl from a junk yard with no upbringing, 120% rejected by jedi master, no training, no mentor, no master, friends with some loser runaway chicken drifter, completely defeats the former and escapes leaving the former unscathed (I would have just killed him!).

Mmm...

Oh and as far as I'm concerned, no other character in the movie does anything to matter, you could replace them all with ewoks for all I care, the movie would not have changed one bit.

I liked it.
I switched my brain off, didn’t analyse it and just sat back and enjoyed the movie for what it was.

Top job channelling Kylo Ren's sense of entitlement there ; )

Who knows what Mark Hamill really thinks of it. If I were him I would spit on the script!

Although during the show (and till now) I do not believe what Kylo Ren told Rey about her parents. Who knows, I just don't believe it. But I can't be bothered to be left wondering for 2 years.

I think her parents are Luke and a woman he met in a bar whilst doing the Kessel Run.

I want to believe that. By the way, Daisy Ridley sings amazingly well, though the timbre of her voice is very miley cirus (deep) unfortunately.

I would think Mark Hamill ought to smile, nod and thank is lucky stars any kind of script and pay cheque came his way!

Saw it today and I was pretty happy with it, considering it felt rather long.

I wish they explained where Snoke came from...is he in any way linked to Darth Sidious?

I get the hunch they have left the door open for side-project movies like Rogue One to be used to fill in plot holes

Other note I'll make is The Embassy in Wellington City is a great cinema to watch it given the main cinema is fitted out with Dolby Atmos
