Linux: Congratulations to Geekzone and who is the second longest standing member that posts? We know who the first one is

Add JohnR to my total please :)

Linux

Knew it! (actually did the whole time) - the Cat is out of the bag now :)

Congrats guys! Even though I am quite young compared to many people around here (8/9/2009) I was a lurker for way before that without an account. I remember stumbling on posts for Windows Mobile + PalmOS back in the day as well as many PC fixes. I remember back then when PressF1 was still a thing I would check that and Geekzone. It is good to see Geekzone is still a thriving community.

I've also met some incredible people on here and would not be currently in Las Vegas at CES if it wasn't for those incredible people. In-fact I may not even be working where I am now. Geekzone has been a massive part of my life since I started posting - it was a rocky start for me (immature emo teenager of sorts) but it helped me mature in the tech space.

Here's to the future! I'll be sure to Celebrate on Wednesday (Las Vegas time) with some ribs, whisky and a Cigar :)

I remember lurking in the early days... All the Windows Mobile knowledge!!!

I think it took me 4+ to get around to creating an account.

Congrats @freitasm! Job well done!

2003? I think I can just about remember 2003....!

Good job. I probably "know" more people here than I do IRL. I also learn a lot about tech stuff, not being truly geeky in the network engineer/IT/mobile network sort of way that many here are. One of my key learning experiences is the For Sale thread, where I see a post that says "For Sale: Uber Tech Widget Carbon 9777884444 techno-whizz (note - A shape not G shape)" or some such and then have to run and look up what is actually being sold, because I never heard of one...!

It's a great place to find answers to all manner of things; a sort of living Wiki mastermind Borg Collective.

Happy Birthday Geekzone.

The help has been invaluable over the years and some of the comments and off topic forums have been priceless.

Great work @Freitasm for keeping the site (and us) relevant. So what was the first official forum/post?

Procrastination eventually pays off.

If only my memory was good enough to recall why I first joined/what my first post was about. Hmm ...
