On Monday I purchased something from Harvey Norman that was in their New Year sales event, now they have dropped the price further. Is that just hard luck for me or is it worth going back and talking to them?

TIA.

Just talk to them - they'll often refund the difference.

Some retailer have a price guarantee if this happens. But generally it is just bad luck. But guess it doesn't' hurt to ask them. Some stores allow for returns within a certain number of days, so you could tell them that you want tot return and then buy again at the lower price, which is effectively the same thing.

Also check credit card policies if you used one to pay. Some Platinum cards and high level ones have a price guarantee and will refund the difference.

I've recently had both Noel Leeming and Smith City refund the difference quibble free when something I've bought is cheaper a week later. Harvey Norman have a 14 day change of mind policy - ask for for a discount otherwise you'll return the old item and buy a new cheaper one. They won't want the hassle and should just do the refund.
