Also note this " Other Banks ATMs " not the ATMs that are owned by none banks like the dodgy ones in the Sky city carpark

Just watch the ANZ ATM's at places like the Bush Inn disappear.

 

They will only end up with "their own" branch ones, and not the ones that they have to pay the likes of Armourguard to replenish etc.

 

That is my prediction. 

 

Actually banks don't replenish cash in their "own branch" ones. They still use Armourguard (or equivalent) to do that.

They've actually cut many of the fees over the years. There will be an uproar if they were to increase anything. Fees make up quite a small part of the total profit generated by a bank (trust me - I know).

Kiwibank is waiving ATM withdrawal fees for EFTPOS and Debit card cash withdrawals effective 15th April 2018.

They still make a fortune if they really cared about customers they would make the op out the default setting on their accounts so customers don't over draw their accounts instead it's hidden .Customers can actually switch it off so if they don't enough funds the transaction would decline. I also love how their product owners used to pose on their Facebook page as customers defending the own fees they implemented. It's a shame they destroyed the National Bank brand and values

I use electronic payment whenever I can but some things still require cash.

 

I use cash every week when I go to the weekend market for my weekly fix of noodles and usually grab a coffee too.  I often buy veges there too.

 

All cash only.

 

Glad to see the other bank ATM fees go.  They were a money-go-round between the banks that gouged customers.

In Australia, the overlimit fee can only be charged if the customer opts into overlimit. If the bank decides to do it of it's own accord, it cannot charge a fee for the service. I think this is actually a pretty fair way of doing it - most banks don't explicitly block overlimits unless outright asked here, but they are relatively picky about what they'll allow (i.e. they'll allow an overlimit on a recurring charge from your health insurance, but they won't allow an overlimit on an instore transaction).

Totally agree most AU banks are actually more up front due to regulations, if they can get around it here they will. ANZ however not soo open about opting out. Explains why they are often near the bottom of customer service ratings
