When I was a kid there was only the original Coke (not the Coca version, the pre-sugerless ones) from the 1950s. I tried it a few times because that is what you do, but I never liked it. I much preferred orange Fanta. I haven't tasted Coke in any form for decades. I have no wish to.

There is some interesting emerging research on the effects of artificial sweeteners on gut micro-biota.  Some of them have been know to have a laxative effect for a while.

It's an evolving (and fascinating) field of research but the correlations are not encouraging.

My main complaint (as a Coke Zero drinker) is that it's more awkward to say when you're ordering lunch.  Coke Zero trips off the tongue easily, Coke No Sugar sounds clumsy.

That was the other one I noticed and forgot to mention.

Eat KFC? Check the branding on the dispenser now. Our local has the old signage with zero, but the branding on the dispenser and presumably the type now piped is No Sugar

When did KFC switch from Pepsi to Coke?

Bout same time pizza hut did :)

Both went plain marking for a while during transition. Nearly 2 years now I'd say.

As a Diet Coke drinker, I have found it annoying that many have ditched Diet and gone zero - and are now obviously going to No Sugar.

The flavour is so completely different, that I will now only drink water if there's no Diet Coke available at a fast food joint or Dairy.

I had the misfortune to have a Pepsi a few weeks ago.

Certainly prefer Coke. The best Coke is from glass bottles in very hot countries where it takes on a restorative effect it seems to lack at home!

I don't know why Coke are pushing so hard to try and get people to switch away from Zero to "No Sugar" or this new Stevia sweetened one, I'm not sure I've heard anybody say "I prefer the No Sugar one", the shelves int he supermarket always seem to have more gaps in the Zero stock than in the No Sugar ones.

I drink Pepsi Max mostly (and the new Vanilla variety isn't bad either), but do grab a Zero or Diet from time to time, but I only bought No Sugar once, didn't like it.

I can only conclude that No Sugar is cheaper for them to make or something.

For all intensive purpose it appears soely due to 'the mothership says make it so' if you believe the aussie articles

IIRC the research on gut biota was a study on rats, the sweetener was sucrolose ("Splenda").

Sorbitol used a sweetener/additive has a very strong laxative effect.

I kind of agree that there's some not so encouraging correlations, but I'm sure there have also been a lot of papers published warning about potential harm from artificial sweeteners, funded by the sugar (and/or HFCS) industry or lobby groups associated with them.

I'm definitely Pro "Zero" .. the "No Sugar" stuff isn't nearly as nice. I've been drinking Zero since it was first available.. I'd switched from Standard to Diet prior to that but never really liked the Diet taste..

You're not the only one who's enjoying the Vanilla. 7 weeks into the launch we're still selling at 200% of the forecast.

Thank you for your custom ;-)
