Wahoo. Hope it is good.

I really liked STTNG, and he is a great actor.

Although I think its probably at least 18 months (2020) before this thing might hit screens , there currently is no title, no scripts,

"As he left the stage following his 10-minute appearance in front of the convention crowd, he clarified that the series — which does not yet have an announced title — is still early in pre-production, and that no scripts have yet been written. “We’re still talking story,” said Stewart."

But as with everything in Hollywood-land , the first step to getting a show to fly is getting the lead actor "attached" to then drag along supporters,  It will be interesting to see what other TNG  (or DS9/VOY) alum will choose to appear,

Its also interesting that the  "TV" Star trek remains firmly in the "Prime" timeline,

Interestingly, even though Patrick Stewart is by far the oldest TNG cast member, he is one of the only ones I can see as being in good enough physical shape to reprise his role.

Although Michael Dorn should be a no-brainer as I believe he has wanted to return to the role for years with a Captian Worf show. And Worf did become one of the most interesting and fleshed out characters in TNG and DS9.

As awful as it sounds, age and weight has probably gotten the best of much of the original cast.

I'd like to see Stewart and Dorn headline it with the rest of the cast being newcomers, but maybe allowing for some cameos from the some of the original TNG cast.

Couldnt help but read his social media post with his voice.

I have immediate imaginations of a Post sabred Jedi ghost appearance for like 2 eps.

Cause, you know.. It's not like a certain other resent franchise of it wasn't bouncing around alternate timelines or anything...

Hey, the Rolling Stones can still strut,  :)

On a more serious note,  Brent Spiner is still actively acting, and its really only Mr Frakes who has fully embraced the director "lifestyle"

If you dig up convention footage from the last couple of years most are not too badly off for being in their 60s

For me Picard, Data, and Worf were the most interesting characters.

But even if they resurrected the character, Spiner was already starting to look too old to play an ageless android during the last movie, and that was over 15 years ago. He looks fine for his age, but could no longer play the character.

And realistically to get new younger viewers they will need an injection of younger characters, so I suspect that even my hopes of seeing Dorn is wishful thinking. But I hope I’m wrong.

He's heavily involved in voice-acting; most notably in audio books. And also the table top gaming stuff; which I think is mostly online. He blogs , too; but output there has fallen off a bit.

And also is a published author.

I'm sure he's quite busy, really...

I hope they do this justice.

Stewart speaking 14 seconds in:

I had zero expectations for Discovery. Anything with Picard/TNG will be challenging. Stewart is a hardworking actor. It could be interesting and I'm sure it will be.
