Looks like the Fire Brigade have switched to Digital P25 in Auckland.

Any one that can confirm?

P25 can operate in encrypted or unencrypted mode. You can decode and listen to une crypted P25 with a SDR and some free software..

I miss being able to listen to police scanners. Roll on practical P25 brute forcing that work from more than 30cm away :-)

Information wants to be free. The Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it.

No I don't think they have. Still working OK here.

They have recently done a software upgrade which is causing LMR issues.

There was a large 24hr outage of Police and Fire dispatch systems last week for a major upgrade. During this time fire operated with no selcalls and manual disptahcn and paging for the duration of this upgrade.

Part of the upgrade was to improve reliability of the selcall system.

Yep thanks they were very quite last night nothing for over an hour so I asked my mate if they moved to encryption. He said the other week they got new radios like the Police have and was have most likely changed over. But turns out they were only analogue 8200 not 9100's so still operating on analogue.

I know what you mean, Sure I could listen to other areas but they don't have the eagle, Which is interesting when there is a good chase.

I was just up in Auckland yesterday, and it seems like they have moved away from VHF and gone to UHF. I heard nothing on the usual 76.375 but good and strong on 486.950 (Sky tower)

Cheers
