Any advice on what i should do about a package that is said to have arrived at the destination country (NZ) on the 30th Jan but still not delivered. Looks like it should have been picked up by NZPost but there is no NZPost tracking number and my local Post outlet says there is no parcel there for me.

So, Ali Express says it is in NZ and NZPost has no idea about it so guess that is too bad.

Lucky it was a small value item. I should just tell Ali Exp it hasn't arrived, I guess.

They will often reuse a tracking number on many parcels to the same country, and when you get it the number is wrong and its not tracked outside of china.

Just do an item not arrived report. Low rated users seem to take a few days for them to look at the request and the seller will often try excuses with other tracking numbers for things that will track as being on their way.

I have only had this sort of screwing around when choosing sellers that are of the "some of everything, specialize in nothing" types that just list stuff a few cents less than all the other sellers that seem to specialize.

My experiences is that the more specialized the sellers are in a single item (Hobby electronics / computer parts / custom cables / kitchen things / aquarium things) then the better service you get, they can answer questions about the items and actually take care with packing. The all in one store sellers seem to just buy images and descriptions, watermark the images with their name and list with the bought descriptions and the best you get as an answer is "size is in the details" etc.

And dont buy from the cheapest seller if you think they are incompetent if you actually want the item in a timely manner.

And when you lodge the dispute, stand your ground. Don't take excuses or sob stories, don't engage in pointless negotiaion, calmly stick to the facts and stand your ground.

The Chinese way is different, and honestly is not a priority.

Thanks very much for the helpful comments, guys.

I guess I can assume that it is not here in NZ at all as if it was, it would have been delivered.

Dispute time - however, it was such a low cost I won't be loosing any sleep!

I've only ever lodged one dispute, and the seller denied it. I took it further (to AliX) and they reviewed it and refunded me the next day. The item showed in the tracking as just going from depot to depot in China - it never left the country.

Good experience.

This is good advice.. this actually happened to me they gave me a sob story that they would be penalised and it would come out of their salary

Their solution was to buy something else from them and they would give me a 5% discount on whatever I wanted.. GTFO!

When it escalated to aliX they were easy as and refunded the money almost right away

I've lodged about 3-4 disputes and they have all been resolved in my favor by Aliexpress.  They really do have a good system.  Even got a refund where the seller had tracking to show it was delivered, it wasn't.  I lodged it with NZ Post who said it hadn't been delivered and I got my money back ($100 worth of 18650's).  Item never arrived.

This sort of thing is very common on AliExpress. Just wait until protection nearly runs out then file a dispute saying the item never arrived. Normally the seller offers to extend the time but even with the extension it won't arrive. You just have to wait longer for the refund.

One that really annoyed me was in early November I ordered something intending to have it for Christmas (Just a cheap decoration thing). Christmas week and nothing arrived. Filed dispute, rejected as AliExpress said purchase protection still had time to run. Finally after Christmas I re-filed the dispute, Seller offered to extend time by 30 days. I rejected it saying it was pointless after Christmas. AliExpress agreed with the seller, At the end of January still nothing and re-filed this time got the refund.

Interesting that Aliexpress shell out for "lost items", yet when it comes to faulty items they're "tough, deal with it" if the seller refuses to refund/reply.

I've had all disputes resolved in my favour, but two recent ones were left to AliExpress and on both occasions they were initially rejected due to lack of evidence. AliExpress provide only a tiny field in which to write, they apparently don't look at it, and they won't consider content in private messages, even if it shows the seller provided incorrect information prior to purchasing or that the seller agreed to a refund. The best you can do is give a picture of the problem, which is sometimes a very difficult thing to do, especially if the wrong item was shipped. E.g. How can you show a difference between the 3/4" pipe fitting you ordered and the 5/8" one you were sent, when you don't have anything to compare it against?

I purchase a lot through AliExpress, and supposedly when you maintain a certain level of purchases, you get quicker resolution to disputes. That may be the case, but lately I've felt the level of service has slipped and disputes aren't being handled properly.

One seller told me that when you use AliExpress shipping, AliExpress always handles the dispute. I'm not sure if that is true or not, although that would be plausible in the case of non-delivery. In my case the item wasn't as described, which the seller acknowledged, so it should have been accepted right away IMO.

Not true in my experience... I've had a couple where the goods were faulty or not as advertised, and I got refunds.
