Not what I expected, but I can live with it!

Feels like it was a pretty decent ending to me. Not quite how I expected it to go. 1 Solitary death may be the least ever in an episode of GOT.

I enjoyed Briennes scene.

I am not clear on Jon Snows punishment and I couldn't really cotton on to pretty much anything that happened to him after Kings Landing.

Was a nice ending that would appease the most fans. Personally I would of liked a bit more blood and gore so it went out with a bang.

Who better to not repeat the mistakes of the past than the guy who can see everything that has ever happened?

He went north of the wall to live out his days with the free folk.  Probably as King Beyond the Wall.

That feeling when all the fan theories (that would have been really cool and given it multilayered substance) come to nought. Kinda like last Jedi.

OK, so... it's over. Here are some random thoughts - just mine - about the last two episodes (and apologies in advance for any typing issues - my keyboard is plying up and sometimes I press the keys but it doesn't enter the characters):

  • Cersei's end was such an anticlimax. As the one who's been driving most of the evil stuff since the whole show started, I expected a more satisfying death, like Joffrey and Ramsay got.

  • Disappointed Jaime didn't complete his redemption arc. I really thought he was going to see Cersei for who she was, and be the one to kill her in the end. Which means the whole prophesy thing just kind of petered out, after the first few parts came true. I did like the scene where Brienne finishes his story in the history of the Kings Guard though.

  • Daenerys turned so quickly. I guess it has been coming for a while - at least D&D would have us believe so - but in the end it seemed like a switch just flipped. I think Tyrion tried to explain it to Jon in the finale, but it still felt rushed. And the way she died was really the only way it could have gone down.

  • Tyrion appointing Bran king seemed too easy. He'd been in a dungeon for weeks, it's not really explained properly why he's even been let out, then:  "You need a king. It should be Bran." And everyone just says "Yep", except...

  • Sansa decides to cede from the union, and nobody gives a damn? Seemed like a bit of a sour grapes move on her part. Why not let all the kingdoms just do their own thing then? For example, I'm sure Dorne would quite happily be independent.

  • Why did Jon get sent back to the Nights Watch? Surely it serves no purpose with no Night King, no White Walkers, a bloody great hole in the wall, and the Wildings now allies. Did he even stay at the wall - seemed like he was going north. Is he King Beyond the Wall now?

  • Anyone else think the scene where Jon, Sansa, Bran and Arya are all saying goodbye looked like the end of Lord of the Rings? I expected Arya to say she was sailing to the Grey Havens with Mr. Bilbo and the Elves.

  • Disappointed Bronn ended up one of the most powerful lords in the Seven, er, Six Kingdoms. Over the course of the show, he went from a loveable rogue to a total b@st@rd. I hoped he was going to meet a sticky end.

  • So Bran has known for about three seasons that he was going to end up the king. Is that how it works? Why does he need a Small Council - doesn't he just know everything?

  • And Sam is George R R Martin. Is that right?

All good points. Agree we went from Cersei is bad to Danielle is bad way too quickly.
Say again, why was this a rushed 6 episode season, that had to rush everything in quick conclusion, instead of 2 whole seasons?

Didn’t Sam present the works someone else had written?

The morning after and I am not awake to things I wasn't happy with related to the ending, just sad there isn't another episode or season.

I was pretty happy with it.

Sure, it could have been better - another couple of episodes to stretch it out a bit, but I'm certainly not going get outraged and sign any petitions or anything.

The Finale felt so flat. Almost like the main goal was to set up a bunch of spin offs rather than bring closure to an epic series.

Don't get me started on all that Arya Stark character setup and the faceless whatever that came to... very little.

Disapointed, but not signing any petitions :)

I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.

I enjoyed the final season, but that was tempered by the obvious inconsistencies (all the Dothraki died at Winterfell except for the thousands who didn't) and story gaps (where did Bran warg to for most of episode 3?)

The effects were great. The scenes and costumes were great. The acting was great.......but that story......naah.....sucked. The ending was fine.....it was just the downhill rush to get there with so many gaps and major leaps unexplained.

My favourite character was easily Tyrion, but I had a few I really liked. Cersis was an evil wench, but she really did the job justice and portrayed the character well.

In theory sure. But on the basis of what we (and the characters) have seen, Bran is a bit of a creepy weirdo.

Overall the entire season was clumsy, hamfisted, and rushed. The previous season had similar issues, but nothing like this.

I believe the issue is that Martin had told the show runners how the books would end, but they just had no idea of how to get their themselves (and certainly not in 6 episodes).

Most of the issues could have been dealt with given more episodes (season 8 probably needed to be spread over two 10 episode seasons). A full season to deal with the White Walker threat in a far more satisfying way (i.e. not a deus ex machina move that immediately eliminates the entire threat), while also planting more seeds of Dany's tyrannical nature and jealously of the admiration people have for Jon. Then the final season of her decent into madness and John's realization that he needs to do something about it.

That would have also allowed time to establish Bran as someone wise and worthy of being a leader.

Perhaps more onscreen time together might have improved the chemistry between Kit Harrington and Emilia Clarke too, which would have gone a long way to selling Jon's love induced blindness and his conflict and guilt over having to kill her.
