-Arya turned into such a kick ass assassin.

-The hurried/unfinished feel to the story probably bodes well for Martin who can now do it properly and make a bundle of $$$ selling the real ending in his books.

did she?
In the books she hasn't, well yet.

Even in the series, she ran away from assassin school.

She wanted to be the scary tough killer but as Sandor kept saying....

I just binged the whole series. Not into fantasy sh$te but gave it a watch. So., watched 4 or 5 a night. Then comments here are interesting, especially what's not great. For me, the while series was a 2 week non stop movie, thats how it felt. I got really invested in it. Loved it in fact. As for the ending, I'm not that ok with it. Sansa is stupid, and to me, carriers more weight in the series, than she actually does, or is worth. The Queen of the North was a deed that doesn't fit in with the manner that the kingdoms have been held. Seven Kingdoms, how about treat the North as a spare part, she can have it? And her character was only on the fringe of royalty. As in she's always there being a bit royal but more sulky than "you deserve this". Jon being punished back the the Knight Watch was dumb. Yes, the feel good is he is King of the Seven Kingdoms, and the storyline would do that. BUT, once Unsullied were given freedom, joined Dany, should have completed their "tour" and now fully free in a location in Westeros, but to me, carried too much weight at the end, so that the key character, the good guy, was banished.

I reader that Dany became the mad queen. I didn't see that. She always was. She always wanted to not be like her Dad, and she wanted slaves to be free, but what I saw was that she always had the killing instinct. Be nice, but fear me. And she always proved she can and will kill, all through. Towards the end, it went from happy families with Jon, to needing to take charge, so she did. To me, that was always within her capability. A bit like taming a wild animal, it will be nice, but never tame.

Might there be something later here? Arya has a story, I was half expecting Hound to be alive, as he fell and Mountain cushioned his fall. Sansa can get stupid and cause grief up North. Jon to take the lead. The writers might find a new story theme.

Certainly a great show. When I find my next fix like this, I will try to hold off and binge it. I feel a two week movie is a nice experience than a small catch binge then weekly. Maybe thats why I felt it flowed, and others saw lots of faults?

Read the books, it's different.

And probably the ending will be too.

Meanwhile I read the First Law series by Joe Abercrombie.

Similar in many ways, less sex, more violence, heroes more along the lines of the Wildlings, and just when you think you know how it will go, no it doesn't.

If you like neat, happy endings, forget it, it could be depressing except for the humour in it. Dark humour albeit but it was great. I just ordered 4 more of his books (not all part of a series)

I'll look around for another series. Outlander is an option but S01 and 02 end tomorrow on Lightbox. Pity. Im thinking I prefer a series where its not "wait-a-week"

I watched the GoT doco and S07 How they made it, that was very cool.

Another vote for Joe Abercrombie. His next book in a new series is due Sept 19.

To be honest the books are irrelevant to most people who watch the series. If you like the books better than the series that's great but not a factor in whether people enjoy the TV series.
