Some of us are still expected to wear a suit to work for the role we are in and my go-to place was always Munns. Any Wellington recommendations since their closure?

Mumms was cheap, but I never thought their advice was good, the lines available were dated and overall not a good value if you wanted quality.

Man to man has a good selection and good service - my pick at any time.

Mandatory Menswear has a nice selection of different, more modern styles.

Harfords Menswear is ok but I don't like the selection.

If I had money I would buy at Working Style.

There's also David Jones with some good selections.

Working Style - good quality, reasonable price, and they have a couple of sales a year (you've just missed one).

They will offer you a scotch with your suits too :)

I think Man to Man has a good price - high three to low four digits for 100% light wool. Working Style seems to start around $ 2k for anything I looked around there. Or perhaps is just my expensive taste...

Please don't kill me but Hallensteins have some good suits, plus I get 2 pairs of pants. Often the jackets outlast the pants.

Won't kill you. You know their suits aren't pure wool or linen, right? They get really hot in summer because of synthetic fibres.

I have one from Working Style I had made to order when I was working in Wellington. The only time I need a suit these days would be a funeral, I should think.

If I did need one, I would wait until the next time I was in Hong Kong or London.

I bought mine in Thailand. Tailor made they fitted like a dream... Up until the point I scaled back my exercise regime. They still fit like a dream but its a pretty damn scary one :-)

Been there.

I have several very nice bespoke tweed jackets and things from my former life. I cannot part with them because they are so nice but I suspect I am dreaming if I think I will ever again wear them unless I get some dreadful wasting disease!

You must have very expensive tastes. Working style is generally high three to low four too

Usually Barkers Outlet @ Tawa Outlet City. They usually do a suit + 2 pants for $399 special. With tailoring on both jacket and pants, it was about $150 more.

My suit of 2 years has just recently died (pant’s crotch), probably from lack of regular dry cleaning, but I’ve just pulled the trigger on a made to measure from itailor.com. No idea how good it’ll be but that came out to $395 shipped, and whatever gst + customs fee gets slapped on.

You don’t want to regularly dry clean ( at least for a wool suit). I have to wear a suit every day and rotate so I don’t wear the same one twice in a week. I never dry clean suits unless something is spilt on them

Damn that’s some dedication with that kind of rotation. I don’t believe in needing to wear suits in this day and age (in IT) so I try to spend as little as possible.
