TheoM:

Is it just me, or is the Auckland event also happening at the same time, on the same day as the WellyTech one?

13 != 30

Oh, it's the 13th? Oh dear. According to eventbrite it's the 30th

Hi! I'm TheoM, but you know that already. I run Linux mirrors in NZ together with 2degrees. Like a mirror added? PM me!

freitasm: WellyTech is 13 December. Geekzone Auckland is 30 November.

Ah. Email says 30th for both. Wasn't quite sure 😅

Actually it says 30th for Geekzone AKL and the next paragraph it says "The next event..."

I am sending out a second email with the date for the WellyTech.

I have received an update and Vodafone is looking to have CEO Jason Paris, CTO Tony Baird and Vodafone TV Product Manager Hamish Sansom there to answer questions and get to know more about the community...

We have about 60 people registered so far and plenty of space left! Keep the registrations for this event coming.

AceVPD: What normally goes down at these events?

Definitely no evil rituals or ISP-ISP espionage...

Pizza and beer, conversation with the locals and a chance to meet people who're into tech, including a few industry faces in a not-so-formal environment. If you want to get to know people, there are worse places to go.

Anything I say is the ramblings of an ill informed, opinionated so-and-so, and not representative of any of my past, present or future employers, and is also probably best disregarded.

Will @NikT or or some other phone person be bringing along a briefcase full of devices for us to drool over?

Anyone familiar with the area, how's parking going to be for those of us coming from outta town?
I'm thinking I'll be driving myself to and fro at this stage.
