has anybody ordered recently (since lockdown) and seen it progress? or even received it already?

trying to decide whether to order something or wait...

I placed an order a couple of days ago using AliExpress Standard Shipping. It appears to have moved within China so far, but time will tell if it makes it on a plane any time soon.

2020.04.08 03:35 (GMT-7): Shipment left country of origin warehouse
2020.04.07 20:12 (GMT-7): Shipment at country of origin warehouse
2020.04.07 19:42 (GMT-7): Shipment dispatched

I have had nothing for a week now, tracking just stops at International departure on nzpost and

2020.03.09 16:21 (GMT-7): Departed country of origin

on aliexpress for all the old items, newer things are shipping.

However it seems that everything that came via any of the local reshipping companies instead got here quite quickly. Ive ordered some more stuff today so will see how that gets on in comparison.

Didn't the PM ask people not to buy things from overseas at the moment, due to the extra load it puts on delivery workers?

I've heard a bunch of inconsistent messages, but I haven't heard that.

i don't know. did she? i've heard at least a couple of people say that... but not the pm, or any official message about it.

having said that, i could have easily missed it as there's a overload of announcements left and right. do you have a link to that announcement?

anyway, i'm not even buying something for myself. an elderly neighbour (not comfortable with only online shopping) has asked for help.

as for local retailers, a tremendous level of inconsistency with regards to what is essential... how come some beds can be shipped as essential but not all beds, for example?

I heard it.

all you lot still buying non essential things... perhaps want to wash it somehow before you open the shipping packaging.... then wear a mask when ya open... keeping things clean and not allow it to touch other surfaces or people.

If you think im bark raving crazy... then no im not....   you just have to read how long the virus stays on different surfaces in different climates..... and I see today someone has model'd up a cough spatter pattern which shows coughs can jump supermarket aisles.

Anyway... theres a reason why we are on lockdown. theres a reason why weve been told to keep really clean.

Theres a reason why weve been asked to limit contact with people and things outside our bubbles.

Good luck.

good on ya. you're the first person i've heard to say he's heard it first hand.

as mentioned in a previous reply, i wasn't shopping for myself. and the item of interest is something he needs to comply with a farming regulation. he is being chased by the authority since before this whole thing came down. i have told him the changes in place since we moved to level 4.

yah, i am in lockdown and i've only gone out twice to a local supermarket since the 23rd of march (the last day i was at work).

no, viruses do not survive long on non-living items. certainly not the 4 weeks it takes to ship goods from aliex.

no, not all masks can protect you.

no, masks won't really protect you if your eyes are exposed when someone coughs/sneezes on/within 2m of you.

yes, on the 2 trips to the supermarket (applaud the precautions they're taking), i have noticed that you're less than 2m from the person beside you when you're both on a cue at adjacent counters.

i do stay in my bubble... yet my wife goes to work at the hospital daily.

I heard it.

I heard it too at one of the mrdia events, but not sure if the media actually published it anywhere, unless it is in a transcript.

However as per this article below the Covid-19 website advised people to only courier items that were "essential to the provision of the necessities of life."

It said adding "additional pressure and burden to that service may impact on society's wider ability to get through this period, and to stop the virus in its tracks."

I've had a few things arrive pretty quickly the last 3 weeks or so. Got 3 more things on the way now and the tracking is all looking pretty positive on those too.

I've just had a package re-scanned in China after almost a month, so even if tracking says the package has left the country, I wouldn't count on that being the case.

Rather annoyed that the seller claimed the package was in NZ and available for collection from the post office. I wish AliExpress would punish sellers who are caught telling blatant lies when responding to disputes.

Right, that is a bit sneaky. I don't think that's happened to me yet but we'll see.

Was just reading right through this thread, I'd not heard the government asking people not to buy from overseas to be honest. I'm not looking at that much news etc as most of it is pretty rubbish. Ignorance is no excuse though so point taken @goosey

I don't think we need to worry about the virus still being live all the way from China. We'd be at far more risk from someone in NZ who touched the package and was infected - still a very low likelihood. I have been opening anything I've received (regardless of where it's from) outside, putting the packaging straight into the bin outside and then washing my hands - basically the same thing that would happen with stuff from the supermarket.

The courier drivers that I've talked to certainly haven't been inundated - the opposite rather as most businesses are closed, so their volume is way down (I know that won't be the case everywhere but seems to be around here).
